It's simple math... 31's get rolled at Crota and are a handicap to the team, no matter how good your weapons are or how skilled you may be.
2 + 2 still equals 4.

This^ They're fine up until crota. At crota you might be able to carry 1-2 with a GREAT team using the middle strat where no wizards spawn and boomers don't shoot you.
