I think it depends on how deep in you are. If you're looking to furnish your armory still then stick to vanguard/crucible. But if you're rounding out your weaponry collection then the factions are probably a good idea. New monarchy has the vanquisher 3, best vendor auto rifle imo. I'm currently ranking up dead orbit because they sell the deviant gravity heavy mg with arc damage. I have a bunch of legendary gear/weaponry so I think it's worth shifting my focus to factions to get those last couple pieces I need to fill out my armory. Of course you have to play pvp to buy gear, so if you don't want to do that then I suppose it's only good for the shaders and rng drops (as others here have aptly covered). I enjoy the crucible quite a bit, but I get it if it's not your cup of tea.
