Crota is capable of doing this it's not a glitch or a "fail". If you stand too close to the door while Crota is on the side he'll walk in and chase you. I have seen the Swordbearer come in the crystal room and even the Gatekeeper.

I don't know about crota, but I have seen SwordBearers and Gatekeepers thanks mqn!!

Crota has done this before the patch and before hard raid, if you are on the side he's running to and if you are in his sight, you got a train coming up your ass.
