Im not sure if this is true for everyones experiences. But from my experience, I swear I get WAY more rare and legendary engram drops from strike mobs than i do from patrol mobs. I am pretty sure mobs during strikes drop engrams at a higher rate despite the popular belief.
Thats why I kill everything during strikes. I can run a patrol for an hour and get hardly any engrams(maybe one or two blues), but during an hour of strikes I can more than often get 8-10 blues and the occasional legendary just from the mobs.
Just my 2 cents.

This is true your chances are higher simply because your killing adds
-
Higher concentrations of enemies in strikes=higher chances at drops
-
I really do feel that the drop rate is higher in strikes. I can sit at a "loot cave" on patrol and kill many more enemies than i would kill in a strike and get less rare and legendary engrams.
-
Yea, they probly up the drop rates to attract more players

Agreed

Very true, I got two legendary engrams within 4 strikes by killing all.

This.

Yea this is true for me. I kill everything THAT IS PART OF THE STRIKE for the blue engrams, which mobs usually drop a lot in strikes.. People don't understand that by running past everything and only killing the boss you are missing out on glimmer and loot.

I agree, usually come away from a rock strike with 2-4 engrams.
