Why is Mars not WHITE
Why would the furthest planet from the Sun not be covered in ice and look like a desert? Space Magic? These things confuse me

While Mars is in the "green zone" of Sol (necessary to have enough heat to support liquid water and thus life), it is on the outer most edge of that same "green zone".

It's far from the sun but it's NOT that far to make it a ball of ice like say, the dwarf planet pluto(or as some say, Neptune's long lost moon that drifted out of its orbit)

2 RepliesThe terrain on Mars is a greyish color. It's atmosphere makes it appear to be red. Mars should be a greyish color. I like that it's red though, it appeals to some of us who have always wanted to see other planets and I think bungie did a decent job.

Just in case you're not joking... Ice is a form of water. Mars has very little water on its surface. It's poles have ice caps, but the rest is dry sand, simply because there is no water to become ice. However, Mars is still very cold.
