Why would the furthest planet from the Sun not be covered in ice and look like a desert? Space Magic? These things confuse me
-
Never paid attention in school did you. The sand has a lot of iron in it. When iron rusts it ends up being red. There is no ice or snow because there is no atmosphere. Simple as that.
-
Lord, please tell me this is fake. If it is a serious post, nothing can save us now.

You are a zipper-head.

The traveler terraformed or gave humans the ability to terraform the planetesimal if the inner solar system
-
There is an ice cap on the north pole of mars

If this is a racist question then you're a dick. But if this is a science question then you're a dumb dick. Stop watching porno on the net and start watching national geographic instead
-
The stupid...it hurts Seriously, go take a basic middle school science course

This post made my dick smaller

-
lol racism
-
Hahahaha this post is hilarious I would post something negative but I can't think because this retarted ass post fuсked up my mind
-
The worst part about this is that right now, there's pictures of Mars on most news websites, thanks to recent rover activity. Please, please read shit about space, kids. You don't have to read politics or TMZ or whatever, but read every space article you can find.
-
Cause mars isn't water. Its iron and rocks. It does have a few underground ice lakes but it wouldn't be white with snow.
-
Wow. Even a retarded person would know that mars is nowhere near being furthest from the sun.
-
Cause mars is racist
-
is this a joke?

Edited by Cowboysamurai369: 1/28/2015 3:57:02 AMHuh?!. Bro , it's composed mostly of iron first off. White wouldn't necessarily mean ice made of frozen water but still the polar caps are white. It's red because it's iron rust. It's only the last planet before the asteroid belt that divides the gas giants and outer part of the solar system . Weird question ...

Edited by Dan J Huls: 1/28/2015 3:53:36 AMMars is the farthest terrestrial planet from the sun of the inner solar system... Of all the planets in the Solar System, the seasons of Mars are the most Earth-like, due to the similar tilts of the two planets' rotational axes. The lengths of the Martian seasons are about twice those of Earth's because Mars' greater distance from the Sun leads to the Martian year being about two Earth years long. Martian surface temperatures vary from lows of about −143 °C (at the winter polar caps)[9] to highs of up to 35 °C (in equatorial summer).[10] The wide range in temperatures is due to the thin atmosphere which cannot store much solar heat, the low atmospheric pressure, and the low thermal inertia of Martian soil.[156] The planet is also 1.52 times as far from the Sun as Earth, resulting in just 43% of the amount of sunlight

Edited by Tucker: 1/28/2015 3:57:40 AMUhh, Mars is the furthest ROCKY planet from the Sun. The gas giants are much farther away. Some are 80times+ farther away than Earth. Mars is about, on average, only 50% further from the Sun than Earth. And for Mars to be covered in ice it would need lots of something freezeable. And at its temperature that would pretty much be water. It's red btw due to all the iron oxide that is prevalent on the surface.
