New exotic weapon bounty idea
Build your own weapon?
How about a bounty where you can choose what weapon type. And the perks( from a set). Of course there would be the same "go to this person and get that thing" and "kill lots of stuff". But each guardian can choose what type of weapon, say a auto rifle, and work through the bounty to collect perks.
Maybe at one stage there are three option for perks and each has its own requirements. Say one perk is hip fire which requires 500 PvP precision kills with hip fire. Or say you want it to have solar damage, yep. 500 PvP solar kills without dying. Not trying to say it all has to be PvP. Just what is coming to mind. Could be drops from fallen with a low drop rate. Or a engram conversion to something chance.

Maybe to choose the weapon type along with its appearance and base stats, the first step of the bounty would be to turn in a legendary weapon to the gunsmith and that gun would turn into the exotic but with your choice of abilities through the method you described.

I'm sorry, I must be having a seizure! Did I read "500 PVP kills with solar damage *without dying*"???!!! Talk about impossible!

You'd have to have some kind of a "cap" in place for things. For instance, say that you have 5000 glimmer to spend on a gun. A primary costs 2000, a special 3000, and a heavy 4000. Then, adding things like solar/arc/void damage would cost 250. Tracking would be 500. Unlimited ammo 500.
