Why would the furthest planet from the Sun not be covered in ice and look like a desert? Space Magic? These things confuse me

Someone else posted is, its called the red planet due to the rust content of the soil. Mix iron with oxygen and and you get rust eventually. The amount of iron covering the planet just has to do with the chemical composition of the planet. If you would like to know more, go to the library and put some effort in, googling it doesn't cut it
