Why is Mars not WHITE

Why would the furthest planet from the Sun not be covered in ice and look like a desert? Space Magic? These things confuse me

    Huh?!. Bro , it's composed mostly of iron first off. White wouldn't necessarily mean ice made of frozen water but still the polar caps are white. It's red because it's iron rust. It's only the last planet before the asteroid belt that divides the gas giants and outer part of the solar system . Weird question ...
