This is a warning to all Destiny players who are currently using a plasma tv. Do not play Destiny exclusively over the course of a few months. This can cause possible permanent damage to your beloved tv! This happened to my tv with average play time since launch.
The problem lies with the bottom left corner of the HUD containing the super meter, the grenade symbols and the weapon symbols. Most games have static HUD's, but this isn't an issue because pretty much all games have some sort of transparency to the HUD or at least the option to make it transparent. Unfortunately Destiny's HUD on the bottom left is not transparent, it's bright white and bright yellow. Bungie doesn't even offer the option to make it transparent or even less bright! The combination of relatively dark backgrounds with super bright solid hud elements is too much of a risk for plasma! Obviously they did not have plasma tv owners in mind when making this decision.
Here is an example of my tv with a white background
And here is one with a yellow background
I have been attempting to get this image off my screen for a few days now with only slight improvement. Plasma tv burn in on 2009 and up models is almost impossible. Key word, ALMOST! Hopefully over the course of a few months it will fade to be unnoticeable.
Also if anyone was curious I have a Panasonic ST50 that's barely two years old and it's the best looking tv I have ever seen. Incredible response time, black levels and color! I've played countless games on this tv with no issues ever until Destiny. This has pretty much stopped me from playing the game.
*edit* For anyone wondering why I would buy a plasma. Simple answer, best picture you can buy! And for half the cost of top of the line led/lcd tv's. I had an led beforehand that simply had too much imput lag even in game mode, and lackluster picture. I was compelled to buy after playing on a friends pioneer kuro.
*TLDR* Bungie needs to add the option to customize our huds or at least transparency options like pretty much every other game in existence to minimize the risk to plasma tv owners of strong image retention or worst of all, permanent burn in.
*EDIT* After reading the replies plenty of other people have had this same exact issue WITH DESTINY ONLY. Average play time shouldn't ruin our tv's! Bungie, we can play plenty of other games without fear of damage. Please take us into consideration! Game on fellow plasma owners, just not on Destiny...

I didn't post this to start a plasma vs led war..plus for everyone saying my tv is absolute trash, please look up reviews for a Panasonic ST50.. It's good to learn things before you start accusing me of buying cheap trash. As for people who are being helpful, I appreciate it! And for the people who experienced the same exact problem as me from destiny, I'm sorry and good luck!

60" 4K, that is all I am going to say. Awesome picture that will blow away your plasma, and I have never had a ghosting problem come up yet, and I have done some marathon Destiny gaming sessions, as well as playing it everyday since it came out.

Ensure the orbiter is enabled. Not sure if your model has a screen scrubber (forget what its called). On the Pioneer Elite, it runs for an hour moving a white band across the screen. With the orbiter on, I've never had to run the scrubber. I play Destiny at least 4 hors a day on the Elite. When I first purchased the Elite (at least 7 years ago), I ran the scrubber every night for an hour until I had logged at least 100 hours of regular viewing. This was recommended as a good break-in for Plasma. Haven't needed it since. My wife plays Destiny as much as I do. She uses a Samsung LED. No problems there, and no break-in period either.

most plasma tv's have a white screen option use that after you finish playing and it will fade had this problem with my 50 inch plasma when i played guitar hero and it went away

Check your settings menu for Pixel shift or some other type of burn in protection. Should help minimize burn-in.
-
Plasma TV user. No burn? Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry but I really don't have sympathy for you for these reasons, plasmas and video games have not been the best combos for a long time now because of issues like these and I get that plasmas are better picture for lower price but they are not good for gaming because a lot of games have images in one place for long periods of time that can do that to your screen. Even if you didn't know this, how you didn't notice that before it got that bad is beyond me since I have known people who have had plasmas and played video games on it and they noticed it before it got as bad what you have. Also, it isn't bungie's responsibility to make sure their game is plasma tv friendly, though it would be good for PR, it is your job as a consumer to make sure that the game won't cause burn in on your tv.
