Just a thought I came up with yesterday before heading to work, now, I'm aware that my "solution" may have major flaws that will obviously be brought to light by the members of this forum.
Anyway, moving to the solution.
If Bungie were to introduce a timer for progression through a strike, somewhat like the timer on dead island where in order to start a quest all party members needed to be within that circle thing then the quest would start.
But, that's dead island, now for Destiny.
Maybe something that prevents progression to the next area of a strike unless all players are within a certain distance of each other i.e. 20ft as an example.
This would prevent people from running ahead, and prevent any progression at all if someone is afk'ing a strike which you could then leave and report the afk player.
Like I said, this is a possible solution.
Let the tears begin to flow.

Stupid. Lame. So I cannot move on and will get stuck in a strike unless I leave if someone goes afk? That is the single worst idea I have heard of. It's so much easier to drop the timeout to like 3 or 4 minutes on strikes. Then if you stand around too long you get booted. Don't punish others because one member goes afk, just kick them.
