Why do people get so butthurt about the sword on patrol?

I've noticed the continued trend that if one player reaches the sword before the other, the second player will try either killing all the hive or stopping them from spawning in some kind of revenge attempt. I realize that the bounty from Eris rouses a bit of competition, but that doesn't mean you have to be a bad sport about it. The sooner I, or any other player for that matter, finish the bounty, the sooner we'll be out of your hair.

I've literally killed the sword bearer, all by myself, and had someone come in and pick it up.
