And just think when the next DLC comes, all your CE gear will dismantle to ascendant shards, which won't be used for anything else. If you think there is no reason to do VOG, just think how useless CE will become.

For better or worse Bungie said they are removing the shard barrier on the next DLC, whatever that will mean. In all likely hood all previous shard/energy will no longer be used. Which would be good actually as long as we could convert them. All gear should just work how exotics do. Glimmer and planet mats.
