Legendary Gear Queations
I'm fairly new to the game and have just reached the point where Legendary gear is on my radar. I apologies if these questions have been asked and answered, but looking through the forums I have yet to discover an answer to my questions.
If I understand what I have read elsewhere on the web, the gear that is stocked by the faction vendors (i.e. Vanguard, Crucible, New Monarchy, Future War Cult, and Dead Orbit), never change (always the same 10 items). The upgrades for the weapons and armor also never change.
Question 1) Once you have acquired your 4 pieces of armor and 3 or 4 weapons what is the value of continue to acquire marks (i.e. Vanguard Marks)?
There are many upgrades available for weapons and armor that are NOT included in the constant stock available from the various vendors. (I've have had well over a dozen different ones myself). I also understand that Legendary items VERY rarely come from even Legendary Engrams. So?
Question 2) How then do you get other Legendary Gear with upgrades other than those that are on the standard stock?

You can spend marks to get different sets of armor (I collect gloves with reload speed perks for the different primary weapon types, for example) so you can mix and match You may also get into a situation where you need ascendant shards or energy. Buy a tower piece of gear and break it down. You could also buy planetary materials (spinmetal, helium, spirit bloom, or relic iron) They also sell sparrows, that can be further upgrade with an item from Xur. Legendary engrams are pretty rare. I'd say the rate they actually turn into gear has been around half the time for me, since they did the engram update a while ago. 2. Most of my purple gear with different mods comes from faction reputation packages and nightfall strikes, and the occasional random drop. You can get purple engrams from weekly heroic strike, and rarely from the daily heroic story. Only iron banner legendary guns could get their mods 're-rolled'. If you see a tower gun, but don't like the mods, the only way of getting different mods is a random drop. If you get gear in a reputation package, it's gear from that factions stock.
