They are good for saving up mats for next dlc. When HoW releases I can get some vendor gear to work with; if it's good anyhow.

  • You don't read sometimes do you? Bungie stated a couple weeks ago that the vendor gear will not match the Crota cap they made a mistake when they did it this last time. They openly admitted they shouldn't have done that and it won't happen again. Also since you missed it they are going to put in a new way to upgrade our exotics for when the HoW drops so we don't need to fully level them again. So thinking of just skipping a raid to stay at the level cap will no longer help.

  • Vendor gear will always be raised to match revised nightfall levels. If that remains static the maybe, but I doubt it...

  • Nope I think the current vendor gear will stay at the current level to force people to play the raids and buy dlc content. I know most will disagree and some will quit but guess what bungie doesn't care there is enough players that have bought the dlc that it doesn't matter.

Suppose time will tell, but bungie made it very clear in the pre-dlc interviews that existing players that did not want to purchase dlc would not be totally left behind. I'm sort of fed up saying this, but maybe you are looking at things all wrong... The problem is not with the current level of vendor gear, its old raid gear being made obsolete. Current gear (lvl 31) is equivalent to old vendor gear (lvl29) - it's one level higher than the nightfall level and one lower than the raid gear. There is no difference. So maybe if there was a way to upgrade your old raid armour then this would all go away? I never heard anyone say level 29 was too high for vendor gear before the dlc...

  • It's not about that it's about making raids obsolete. They are trying to correct that and making vendor gear for level 32 when HoW would make Crota raid obsolete and VOG more so. But yeah time will tell. I'm all for making raids stepping stones or at the very least they can change engrams to the current mid level cap and just reduce the drop rate. I'm totally against people buying there way when others out in the work to get where they are. Hey look I'm 32 now and didn't even go through any raid just ran a bunch of strikes and and bam. No way to treat the majority of your player base by just saying hey you paid for the DLC but the ones who didn't will still be where you are.

  • You do realise if you don't raid it can take over two weeks of farming for enough shards / energy for one piece of gear? I don't think what they did this time round was that bad, as you state the only broken part is with regards to raid validity. I don't think vendor gear level will stop this - if the current method of lvl increase is followed the prev two raids (CE & VoG) will be irrelevant anyhows as all higher lvl gear will only be attainable from the current raid - creating the same problem you are blaming vendor gear for. As I said, it needs to be raid gear that is addressed.

  • They said that vendor gear wont make the old raid gear obsolete, so I think they will implement vendor gear with the same light level as old raid gear.

  • You inferred an awful lot from Bungie basically just saying "mistakes won't be repeated".

  • Yeah and I like that vendor gear won't be leveled up. It just makes raids pointless and I don't agree with the arguments of well what about the PVP players they can't or won't do raids to get to the level cap. Well this game isn't built for just PVP the game is pretty much 80% PVE so any PVP arguments is invalid. If you just play destiny for PVP then this isn't your game anyways.
