What about this. When you have a dead orbit equipped, you can expect dead orbit weapons and gear to drop in the raid. When you have Vanguard bond equipped, you have the change Vanguard gear or weapons will drop. Etc etc. When you still need raid gear, you will need to equip a raid bond. Good idea?

Your arguments are weak. Vendors aren't typically useless because you can choose what you want to buy. With my idea you will get random drops just like you get with engrams and rank up

I really haven't made any arguments yet. All I've stated is that we're looking for something that won't make other functions obsolete, and that if something is already obsolete to you, it's irrelevant. True, but since there's a way to get gear, even non-specific gear, without a price tag of 75-150 marks, barely anyone will be willing to grind marks to purchase something from the vendor. Most marks earned would end up going towards mats, and most players would just raid to get their gear.
