[b]Epilogue[/b] Lakshmi-2 walked into the corpse-littered ravine, where the Fallen lay limbless and poked full of holes. Where she didn’t see the dead, she saw ash. It was smeared along the bloodied grass and broken bark. It seemed the Saints did a thorough job. She wouldn’t have come back here, but the Inner Circle…they wanted a particular piece of armor belonging to Saint-14. Her Ghost made sure no one was still wandering this area and she continued on. The Ketch was thankfully abandoned. She did not have the inner strength to fight more today, even though she was a machine. Future War Cult had driven her to so much death that it was a wonder she was still in control of her sanity. She made to the field before the Ketch, where the bodies were thickest and a dark figure knelt. The strange creature, hooded and seemingly oblivious to her presence, kept working. It held a small device in its hand, scanning something over and over again. A faint glow illuminated Saint-14's mangled, metallic body and the plumes of his helmet. "Stop, fiend!" ordered Lakshmi, drawing her hand cannon. The figure kept scanning. “My movements are not fully under my own control,” it said, voice deep and distorted. He looked up to reveal almond-shaped eyes of the brightest gold. Sentient grey tendrils sprouted from his face and swiped the air. “Is it different for you?” Lakshmi didn’t respond. Was she imagining this? "Well I must depart, Lakshmi-2," it said, standing. He moved his hand and a dark portal formed in the air behind him, so black it was blacker than the wilderness night sky. He stepped inside and tucked the scanning device into the folds of his shroud. "Who are you?" she managed to ask. The creature looked back. “I am Xur, Agent of the Nine.” [b]End[/b] [b]This ending was inspired by a suggestion made from a Guardian by the name of Poohdib.
