2s- Chiefs group, the most highly elite Spartans 4s- Relatively easy to produce more of, very successful 3s- Most were killed in giant anti-Covenant ops. However, operations were successful. 1s (Orion)- highly effective counter-insurgency group, more a proof of concept than actual Spartans

  • Spartan III's were essentially the same as the II's, but they were considered expendable and given different armor. The I's were a prototype, and the IV's were (forgive me if I'm mistaken) military troops given augmentations and extra training after the covenant war.

  • IIs (and some elite IIIs) had special genetic characteristics that increased the effectiveness of the augmentations (I think the exact number was 10x instead of 4x on a regular human). Those elite IIIs were given the MJOLNIR armor. The regular IIIs were still a deadly force, however, due to the lack of those characteristics, would never be on-par with a Spartan II.

  • I thought all the armor was mjolnir?

The regular IIIs used Semi Powered Infiltration, or SPI armor. It was far cheaper than MJOLNIR to produce, as regular IIIs were far more expandable.
