I actually never used the loot cave 1.0 It didn't bother me that some people did, however. I just felt like I was cheating myself.

I always thought it would be cool if they put a shake around it and every Friday xur could sell you a pass into the loot cave area

Last time I got a purple from a patrol mob, I had just landed and it was a level 3 random mob, not even farming. The loot rules are dumb in destiny, but unfortunately loot caving was nerfed hard so it's just not worth it anymore.

I think the loot cave should be brought back as an event like the iron banner or queens wrath.

As a sign of respect, I take a few minutes out of my day to go to the ruins of what is leftover of the Loot Cave and disturb the remains...

I miss loot cave 1.0 but I do not miss cryptarch 1.0

Cryptarch 1.0 was the nicest, he gave me my first exotic (plan c) from my first legendary engram, which in turn was also from ranking up the cryptarch. Now days I just throw all my blues at him and just get a bunch of glimmer and materials.

I turned in 13 legendaries pre patch. I got 13 rare and uncommons out of said engrams.
