As the title reads above, I believe Dragons Breath is better than many of you may think. Better than Gjallahorn in many cases.
I am not saying it replaces Ghorn in every encounter, just in some situations.
I run DB in Crota's End in every phase except for the Crota fight with extreme success.
Lamps - Drop a huge blast with the Flare at a lamp and let your fireteam recover breifly.
Dropping a blast in your path will cause the thrall to disperse all over the place, often killing themselves falling into holes.
And lastly, firing it at the base of the bridge, keeps thrall back, while you wait for it to build and while you sprint across the bridge.
Bridge- If you know the lanes where the mobs spawn, you can spam them with DB, dealing significant damage to them as soon as they exit.
Hallway - 1 DB rocket at 331 kills a shrieker. Also, firing the rockets into the hallway, clears it of thralls for your runner to make the 2nd chest.
Ir Yut- This encounter is where the Rocket Launcher really shines. After killing both wizards, and clearing the shriekers on both sides, rush left and dump 5 remaining DB's shells into her and she literally melts. She barely moves, and basically sits in the AOE damage the whole time. Not to mention it deals TONS of damage to the adds around her.
Also, most of the strike bosses hardly move, which makes DB extremely effective for them. Such as the devil walker, valas, phogoth, sepikis, the templar in VOG and the nexus. The list goes on and on.
Edit: I'll get some guardians together today, and use our DB's to show just how effective they are. Stand by for youtube links. Give me a day or so, I am a parent so I get about 1-2 hours a day tops.
Oh wow, this is trending. Apparently people don't believe me.

How about I just blow everything up with gjallarhorn? Less confusion, more kills and problem solved.
-
It's pretty anemic for an exotic. The flare should tag DoT so enemies moving away can't escape the total damage if you hit them with the initial blast. It's beyond retarded that enemies you hit can escape over 50% of the damage. Either that or the flare should be MUCH longer lasting. Like 4x longer. Then it's less of a rocket launcher and more of a portable fire wall constructor
-
Could you do a damage comparison dragon's breath v gallerhorn with bosses who actually take the full dot? And btw 1 dB dosent kill a shrieker, I've shot a 331 dB as a 32 titan I usually have to finish it with a sniper

Do sun breakers and touch of flame work with DB

Finally

Edited by vitisku1: 2/5/2015 2:42:14 AMI love dragons breath, had since first week of dlc. Got my first ghorn from deathsinger yesterday, unlocked wolf pack today. I'm now pretty sure I'm not going to see my db for quite some time.
-
I was only a little pleased when I picked up DB last week. After all the trash I have been seeing about it I figured it was a cap launcher and I didn't want to waste my time. However, after playin around with it a few times I find it to be a very satisfying weapon. When you need a solid rocket launcher DB has what you need. However, if you want a shoulder fired homing missile go Ghorn.
-
Don't forget Templar
-
In terms of damage, Dragon's Breath definitely has more potential output. However, in terms of time to use, overall usefulness, not hoping that the boss doesn't move, and aiming, Ghorn wins. It's just too good

Step 1: Get 6 people with dragons breath Step 2: All get on hard mode atheon Step 3: Get times vengeance Step 4: All spam rockets right after times vengeance starts Step 5: Watch the aoe melt his health bar Step 6: ????? Step 7: Profit

Edited by Subtlest: 2/3/2015 7:10:31 PM1. Make a Warlock 2. Shoot a Gjallarhorn 3. Throw a Solar grenade 4. Remember that nothing replaces Gjallarhorn 5. Dismantle Dragon's Breath 6. Win at everything 7. Prosper Edit: 8. Remember everyone makes mistakes (I put "through" instead of "throw") I forgave you for using Dragon's Breath.

Does it kill a shreiker with one hit on deathsinger hard mode?? I upgraded my valedictorian with tracking perk last week only to find that it's 2 rocket mag can't even do it in two shots (pissed off!). I haven't tried my truth yet or db yet.... That's all I'm really interested in with db as I find everything else on the raid too easy and can't use db on crota. I prefer my Truth.
-
It has its uses. I use the DB to one shot the ogre at the end of Phase 1 of CE. I stand on the tall rock 2 over from last lamp and wait for the ogre to come around his rock and fire a rocket. The solar flare pushes him backwards into a pit and bye-bye ogre. Gjallahorn can't do that.
-
It will be a cold day in hell when I replace gjallarhorn for dragons breath.
-
Half of this situations I can do with my solar grenade and gally
-
Guess I should finish upping DB...
-
Actually it's not.
-
I've had dragons breath since nightfall of the first week of TDB and I've loved it
-
I love Dragon's Breath! It looks cool as hell and does a good job destroying your enemies - Darkness or Guardian alike. Whenever I feed it ammo and train it's eye on an enemy I can only hear one sound...
-
Love dragons breath
-
Pretty much everything you just said I do with solar grenades... and ghallarhorn.
-
Hmm I might try it now.
-
Interesting. I might try this out.
-
hmmmmm interesting
-
I'll have to try some of this out, thanks for the write up!

Edited by Kweh: 2/3/2015 8:46:55 PMIt's fun to use for me. That's all I need. Who cares what you use in strikes. So many people on this site remind me of the marine in Men In Black that was getting recruited for K's partner. "To be the best of the best of the best sir!" (Gally). Will Smith (DB) can be just as fun to have around.
