As the title reads above, I believe Dragons Breath is better than many of you may think. Better than Gjallahorn in many cases.
I am not saying it replaces Ghorn in every encounter, just in some situations.
I run DB in Crota's End in every phase except for the Crota fight with extreme success.
Lamps - Drop a huge blast with the Flare at a lamp and let your fireteam recover breifly.
Dropping a blast in your path will cause the thrall to disperse all over the place, often killing themselves falling into holes.
And lastly, firing it at the base of the bridge, keeps thrall back, while you wait for it to build and while you sprint across the bridge.
Bridge- If you know the lanes where the mobs spawn, you can spam them with DB, dealing significant damage to them as soon as they exit.
Hallway - 1 DB rocket at 331 kills a shrieker. Also, firing the rockets into the hallway, clears it of thralls for your runner to make the 2nd chest.
Ir Yut- This encounter is where the Rocket Launcher really shines. After killing both wizards, and clearing the shriekers on both sides, rush left and dump 5 remaining DB's shells into her and she literally melts. She barely moves, and basically sits in the AOE damage the whole time. Not to mention it deals TONS of damage to the adds around her.
Also, most of the strike bosses hardly move, which makes DB extremely effective for them. Such as the devil walker, valas, phogoth, sepikis, the templar in VOG and the nexus. The list goes on and on.
Edit: I'll get some guardians together today, and use our DB's to show just how effective they are. Stand by for youtube links. Give me a day or so, I am a parent so I get about 1-2 hours a day tops.
Oh wow, this is trending. Apparently people don't believe me.

...errrm, not trying to say I disagree with OP, but isn't the 'fireball' perk pretty much a Warlock's grenade? DB is a great launcher, I have mine maxed even, but it's just doesn't feel as powerful as other launchers like HoC for example
-
Edited by SpinThaVinyl: 2/3/2015 12:08:44 PMIts no competition. Ghorn wins by a longshot. 3 Wolfpack rounds equal the dps of a full solar grenade.
-
its good for cheesing atheon if you are a hunter like me. never cheesed crota with dragons breatg yet. might try it out solo after ive done it on hard
-
Edited by TheAbsoluteCool: 2/3/2015 11:59:51 AMbadbreath is good situationally but "never" say better than jellycorn. using flare just to disperse the mobs away from you is jus ermm, why not kill them? pairing fatebring with icebreaker you can shoot 1 mob and take out aoe blast 10 surroundings, use icecarver as a shotgun firing from hip and alternate with faithgiver while ammo recharge. easier on ammo vs badbreath purple. your usage of that weapon fits your style, not everyone else's. I enjoy using no land beyond in darkness of crota. why? because it's hilarious to run after each shot it is fun to use but is stil a "situational" gun
-
DB is fun to use. Great against lower level enemies but that's about it. I bought one (I'm a completionist) and maxed it out. It has its uses, but will never replace my Gjallarhorn.
-
Yeah It is better on still/slow enemies than ghorn But worse against moving enemies Overall ghorn is more versatile
-
HoC is a better launcher for all those situations you just said.
-
Dragons breath = oh no aoe panic rocket Gjallarhorn = best single target weapon
-
Edited by SaberFusion1: 2/3/2015 8:06:45 AMErmmm.... Bosses wont stay still and trowing them with a aoe granade or db shot is the very reason for them to move more! Yes, walker wont move, but bh is far more effective against it. And for the damage. Base damage is about the same on all launchers, wolf packs and other perks are what makes differences. And solar grande with max 10x92damage aint shit compared to 16 wolf pack rounds which not only douple the overall damage but make it x2,5 (like from 4000 base to 10000). And if Ir Yut is still moving meaning hasnt started the song yet, ghorn hits her every time with tracking ability. While db has to be aimed and forecasted her moves.
-
my theory is that its very effective against wizards in general after they get hit, they stay in the solar grenade taking more damage, most of the time they stay throughout the entire duration of the solar
-
But thats it, yeah its somewhat good in the raid, but most classes have a grenade that can do the exact same thing, titans have one and warlocks have a grenade that stops wnemies in their tracks, freeing up an exotic space. Also anything outside the raid, dragons breath ia useless
-
Yes it's a cute launcher, but ain't the Truth
-
Guys I think we're forgetting something here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxPaau4BYkI&sns=em
-
I don't know if its just me but I feel like heavy ammo drops more frequently when I have dragon's breath equipped.
-
Its the perfect anti wizard heavy. It keeps them stun locked inside the flare. You can use it in the will of crota strike to knock omnigul off her bridge and pin her where you can shoot her from the typical hideaway room.
-
People would be so thirsty for this weapon if you could still push bosses of ledges. I only just got mine, haven't levelled it yet. I foresee it having some use in pvp control on smaller, more cramped maps, though probably not enough to make me forgo my jolders hammer.
-
For the hallway on hard, gjallarhorn takes shriekers down in one shot. Dragons breath does not
-
Edited by GuTz HD: 2/3/2015 6:31:19 AMI have a Ghorn and DB for starters. I've used both comparatively & Ghorn is better in ALL situations IMO. So all DB does is collect dust in my Vault. This is just my opinion. If you like DB better more power to you!
-
If you ppl places this much effort in real life as you do giving stats for fake guns, this world could possibly change for the better..
-
I like Dragons Breath. I do. But its a novelty when running someone thru S Story mode or something. Please remember people, Boss enemies are MEASURED in how many Gjallarhorn rockets it takes to kill. It is measurable reference standard.
-
It is good but only against enemies that dont really move, against devil walker it is amazing, it is good against sepics prime, and fairly good against the cabal boss (although he still moves and bit and will move away before taking full damage usually), phogoth and the arcon priest tend to move a lot more so it is very good on them (unless you have someone stun locking them, but that is not the rocket launcher on its own), and it is just bad against omnigal, she just moves to dam much. The reason gjallarhorn is so much more popular is because it is a fire and forget rocket launch and it deals the highest amount of damage on a single target, whether or not they move, normally when i pull out my rocket launcher it is to kill a boss, not random enemies, i want my rockets to hit (missing one rocket when you only have 5 is a big loss), and i want it to hit fast and kill the enemy fast (i dont want to have to hope that the enemy decides to stand still). That is simply why i will always choose gjallarhorn over dragons breath.

Edited by : ^ ): 2/2/2015 9:31:56 PMFor the love of god, stop asking for tracking... PLEASE. Why does everyone need the game to play for them?! There are so many better perks I'd want than tracking.

Get out
-
I have to agree with this post. I used to think it was terrible and not worth my time but I have to say I was wrong. Although I don't have Ghorn and I opted out of Truth I still think this is level with them. I actually think that it is a better launcher than Truth but I believe Ghorn is still on top although not by much.
-
Alright then I'll finalize the upgrades. Not because you said so, but because many people have told me these same things.
-
Excellent post and points. I've wanted to run this on my hunter, as it would actually give him an AOE/Defensive weapon that the class current lacks.
