I keep reading on the other forums about how people have seen the play rate drop 50% because of the way bungie is running this game, all of those posts not having any proof. A lot of these people that are posting probably have a good future in politics, based on the act that all the statistics I've seen so far are made up.
I don't know how many players are on daily, but I do know that destiny has over 3 million registered players.
I for one think destiny is a great game. Sure it could use some improvement, but nobody is perfect right?
You know what else is funny. I have yet to see a really negative post by anyone out of DoD clan or the sub clans.
This is the ideal for a gaming environment. We have the maturity and intelligence to look at things from all angles without getting pissed off for no reason.
I am proud to be a member of DoD
What do you guys think?

Went to GameStop today to pick up a used copy so I could play with my son. Just picked up another XboxOne and didn't know I needed a second copy to play with him. They didn't have a used copy or a new copy. Reminded my of the old Yogi Berra quote, " no one goes there anymore, it's too busy."

I think what makes DoD different is that we have much wider things to deal with. When I was in my early 20s and in college, I could rant about how my favorite game wasn't as great as it should be, or get heated up debating the tiny issues over this or that aspect of gaming. However now, I get a couple of hours a day of me-time TOPS. Around that I have a tough job, commute, getting up early with baby, breakfasting baby, dinnering baby, cleaning, helping the wife, doing finances etc. So, when I do get an hour to myself to do something, I'm hardly going to spend that whining on a forum about my favorite game. And I'm pretty sure the other dads in here are just like that -- our time is too precious to spend it whining about a game we love. Is it perfect? no. Are there issues? Yeh. But, as Dads with limited time, the best thing to do is just to get on with it and have fun!

My only complaint about Destiny is that i can't play offline. I would take my XB1 to work if i could play it offline.

Yup - I'm about to the point where I start unfriending people. Not that I "really" mind them. But, now that I've got so many DoDs as friends, I hate getting a request and having to wonder "is that a DoD" or being in the middle of a game and can't leave.

Yeah the main forums are pretty much the same as watching the Kardashians or one of those other reality tv series that makes you cringe for the future of humanity. Most of those people just want to b*tch about something, possibly because their own real life is so unfulfilling...I saw one guy that said he was done playing and a week later he had put in another 40 hours. I mean is the game what was promised....no, but that promise was going to be pretty hard to deliver. The game is, however, something that is totally different than everything else and it really does have smooth controller to screen movement, you add to that the community (at least the DoD community) and I can't stop playing and totally overlook the shortcomings.

Absolutely! I don't even go into forums outside of DoD anymore. It makes it much easier to go online and play when you know you don't have to deal with random immature kids (and immature no-life adults either). About people complaining, haters gonna hate. Funny part is most of those people posting hate probably can't stop playing either!

If I were to believe what I read on reddit and most other forums I would think this was the worst game of all time and there was no reason to play such a broken mess... However, the few friends I have met through DOD and ransoms I play with are all having a good time and love the game.

I would probably not playing as much if not for DoD. Its the social aspect of mature gamers that I love. I'm not dealing with some kid trying to impress his friends by being a douchebag

I think that if people understood what it really takes to "fix" some of these "problems", they'd back off. I'm by no means a computer guy, but reading some of the things that the Bungie programmers have to go through to fix a problem, it's fairly monumental. Let's consider one thing. You know how you can sit in that 2nd room and kill Phogoth with impunity? Well, people call it a cheese, and want Bungie to extend that lefthand rock wall another 1' so that you can't do it. Here's the problem - does anyone really think that Bungie can actually move a single rock? Or that it's that easy? They don't sit and draw every single rock in the game - that'd take decades. What they do is create a long and complex algorithm such that when they draw a straight line for a room wall, it populates that wall with random rocks, protuberances, crevices, etc. So, to extend just a single rock would mean going and modifying one of the most basic algorithms in the game. But, now that you've modified it, how can you be sure that it didn't screw up some other room - say, put a rock blocking one of the cave pathways in VoG?

I've had 500+ hours of entertainment for £50. I would never think to complain about that. I don't understand why people feel so entitled to tell the development team what they should do with their own game.

I am but we as the customer do have a right to do so.

Edited by gforce: 2/3/2015 3:55:08 PMI totally agree with you as well. I played the beta and have only missed probably 5 days since launch that I have not turned the game on, even if it's briefly to grab bounties. Yes, there are things that could be made better. But there is no perfect game. I have had a blast playing Destiny and can't put it down. I venture now and then to public forums (usually if Xur update isn't out in DoD Friday morning) but quickly get back to DoD after reading threads. Lol I think the DoD community has made me enjoy Destiny even more.

That's cuz we care about the stuff that matters like kids and family, this game like all games isn't life just a nice hobby!

I can't agree more. even though there are things that can be improved upon. I for one can't put the game down and the people I play with are parents themselves. They all say the same thing. I't great that we have somthing in common with our children and knowing that there are responsible out there who play this game is a plus. I say play the game and if any good credisisum come out off it. let Bungi know and move on thanks for allowing me to add my two cent in

I could not agree more! Totally align with your thoughts. I just "orb" out of those negative situations. I'm past the point of being courteous and asking them to refrain from trash talk, cursing etc. Grow up, get a life already. Destiny isn't perfect but it sure is fun (especially when I run across people like you). Thanks for posting this.

It's crazy how negative and volatile the community is. But keep in mind that the forums do not represent everyone who plays Destiny, just the people who want to help/collaborate or complain. I try to ignore the complaints for the most part and just try to focus on the collaboration. I have yet to encounter negativity within the DoD community on the forums or within the game itself. It is definitely a nice place to escape the volatility of the main forum board. I find myself thinking twice before I comment on posts on the main forum as they always seem to be misinterpreted. I really like collaborating and sharing ideas, and I am by no means a really good player, but I have found helpful pointers within the forums and I like to make sure that info is shared where applicable.

I doubt people like that are happy about anything, tell em to piss up a rope :P

There are some that have very little else than a bitter outlook. I just stay away. Just happy that this forum exists. I believe in keeping the drama at home, in the wife's lair. I avoid the main forum and spend my time listening to Guardian Network podcasts, give them a shot if you haven't already. DoD podcast, Warlock School, even Fireteam Chat.
