Why MERCURY isn't in the Game
Guys,
Mercury can't be in the game because it's the hottest planet in the solar system. It basically touches the Sun's CMEs and we would all be dead immediately due to radiation and heat. Why do people want to go to a molten rock and fight the vex? These things blow my mind.
Why do people keep saying VENUS is hotter than Mercury? You guys need to learn the order of the planets.

Simple: if the Traveler can make life on Venus and Mars habitable even after the overwhelming temperatures, why can't it make Mercury one?

It's well in the game apparently. They're adding it to the story sometime after the rumored Destiny: Comet is released.

The lack of atmosphere on Mercury versus the greenhouse gaseous atmosphere of Venus would make it cooler

3 RepliesAlthough mercury is closer to the sun than venus, venus is hotter because it's "clouds" create a greenhouse effect that keeps it's heat in rather than it just falling off. Maybe you should go back to the third grade...

You do realize that technically when it comes to this game you can and will go to Mercury. You want proof? We are already playing in Mercury when you do PVP because one of the maps is in Mercury lol

It is actually at times. It's atmosphere is full of carbon dioxide which keeps heat from escaping the planet. So yes it is hotter sometimes Shen Mercury isn't at its closest to the sun

The ghost tells you that the vex turned Mercury into a machine in a matter of days. That's why no Mercury. You have to pay attention.

7 RepliesVenus is hotter. Greenhouse gasses on the planet trap insane amounts of sunlight, making the surface ridiculously hot. Even the coldest part of the planet is over 700°F. (400°C) It rains sulfuric acid and is genuinely not a very nice vacation spot. So I'd choose a different planet. Distance to the sun is not the only factor when it comes to temperature. Mercury can actually reach temperatures as low as -280°F. (-173°C) because of it's lack of atmosphere, the heat cannot be retained and while the surface is facing away from the sun, it gets frigid. I've been obsessed with space my entire life so yeah. [spoiler]*The More You Know*[/spoiler]

Venus is hotter, Venus's clouds trap hot air and gasses so they can't escape, making it a furnace, mercury doesn't have that problem since it doesn't have as many clouds. Bruh
