To clear people up. Venus' average temperature is hotter than Mercury's because all of that heat can't escape venus' thick atmosphere, while mercury no longer has an atmosphere due to being burned off from being so close to the sun. So mercury does get much hotter than Venus during they day, but since mercury has no way of keeping any of that heat in, it becomes extremely cold during night. To the op though, technically we would instantly melt if we ever stepped on Venus too. The burning shrine map is on mercury, so we do technically play on mercury.

Exactly, the atmosphere of Venus is so dense that the vast majority of sunlight is trapped in the atmosphere and has a greenhouse effect.

So..the light is trapped? Not the other forms of radiation? Interesting

Not necessarily the light, the heat remains trapped and is not reflected by the atmosphere like on Earth, it is absorbed.
