I still don't understand why people care so much about the story. I would much rather them spend their time on balancing, fixing glitches, designing raids rather than improving the storytelling. Cutscenes are cute and all but after the first couple of times seeing it, I just want to be able to skip past it.

Story allows you to care about the characters and helps the player connect to the game better. If you want the game to last 10 years then people need to feel connected to the characters in it. Otherwise it will be put away when the next new game comes out. Just my opinion.

Edited by Hellekeen: 2/5/2015 9:42:55 AMi do care because it immerses in the story.. dont want to have a game where developers say that the three most fun thing s do do are "sparrow driving", "dancing" and "shooting things in the head".. thats just plain, down , utterly DUMB..
-
Why not both?
-
I haven't seen them do any of that though. They've pretty much ignored all that and have spent their time patching out cheeses rather than fixing the game.

I paid for what was on the commercials. I did realize that I wouldn't have everything but -blam!- my 11 year old writes better stories in his journal. Those normally involve a couple of lego mini figures and a string.
-
I think the story is actually pretty good. It's the presentation of it that sucks.

If you've ever played The Last of Us, you'll know why people care about story so much. It adds atmosphere to the game. Makes you actually care about the characters.

Oh Gawd last of Us was such a brilliant and capturing game.. it was with all right the best game of that year and even made his comeback as remastered on ps4 , i bought it againm, and again was absolutely pleased with those additions and even deeper immersion in the story.. it was perfect..
-
I bought it again too. It was on the PSN store at $30 and bought it immediately.

But what else does that game really offer (I haven't played it) as far as game modes? Some genres have to have good stories because it's simply dependent on it. Games like Assassin's Creed, GTA, Dragon Age have to have good stories. But for games like CoD, Battlefield, Titanfall I really couldn't care less about the stories. Even MMO's, I don't care about their stories because to me, that isn't the point of the game.

An RPG game without a story is like box of chocolate without chocolate, an empty box.

The competitive multiplayer in The Last of Us is much better than the Crucible. It's not even remotely close. If you care at all about balance and skill based multiplayer Destiny is not for you. Also, The Last of Us was Game of the Year on most sites when it was released. I'm sure there's a couple questionable sites out there, but most of the major publications didn't have Destiny as the best game.

at least destiny could get the title of "most dissappointing game 2014" =D
