Despite being kind of inaccurate at times, this was entertaining to watch. However, I don't think that videos like this are what Destiny needs. Long videos covering a mass wealth of information are info-dumps for starters, a practice which is almost considered taboo for a lot of writers. They can also be incredibly boring for some players and keep them focused on things that aren't the main focus of the game (i.e. gunplay, becoming legend). Also, I firmly believe that the confusing nature of the lore and story are to emulate the confusion that your character has when entering a universe they don't understand. That being said, in the future I wouldn't mind seeing in game grimoire with short videos to match (almost like halo waypoint, except the audio would be just the text of the grimoire). This would make them more entertaining, yet they would still fit their purpose as bits of gleaned information on the world.

 • Well stated. I agree with everything you said, even though it appears that we are in a very small minority of people who believe this. There has been enough feedback to bring the Grimiore in game, somehow, that I imagine it would have to happen at some point. Biggest outlier is how they go about it. Have seen some really good suggestions, like using the Speaker's library, accessible videos from orbit, randomly showing unlocked cards over loading sequences, etc.

 • Thanks for the feedback, I'm glad someone agrees. As for Bungie implementing the grimoire, one option might be to create a poll of options and have the community vote on which they think is best. That way people might feel like their ideas are being listened to, a problem I've seen come up on the forums frequently, but the selectable options are still controllable by Bungie so that there isn't a winner that is completely ridiculous or impossible to implement. And maybe this isn't the best way to go about it, but it could settle some grievances and put Bungie in a situation where they have better community support with other problems. I also can't help but feel that the reason the grimoire wasn't in game at launch was to increase traffic to the forums and the app. So if the grimoire does get put in game, maybe putting just the text and an awesome picture to go along would be good for the game, and then have grimoire video streaming from b-net. This way there's still that incentive for players to visit the site. Or alternatively, keep videos in the game with the grimoire and add some in-game bonus that requires going to the b-net card to receive. Maybe codes on the b-net cards that are redeemable for blue engrams? Not game breaking, but I'd still log on to get them. Take in mind that these are just my personal ideas, and I'm sure there are better ways to go about implementing grimoire. However, I think that the more constructive ideas we have out there, the more options Bungie will have to pick the best solutions.

 • you two are in the minority due to a few attributes you are incorrect about. No one from the community agreed that the grimore was the correct way to go. as a matter of fack it was bungie in last year feb. who just hired a guy to make the system and make it badly. so you are incorrect about that notion. next what is incorrect about this person video. i hate when someone comes on and says "being kinda inaccurate" but then they do not illustrate what was incorrect. video games who have videos are a story to tell. info dump is what the grimore are. just a dump of info with no true form to understand its story. it would be cool of you to know the difference. You are also incorrect about why the grimoire was not in the game. because the game code was pretty much complete and it would push destiny back to have such a system created in fed to be put into the game. it was a side system created and decided to be apart of the website. dont guess when the info is right there from bungie. forum and website traffic would not be affected as many MMO have info cards and video illustrations in game and their web traffic is just doing fine. The problem with bungie is simple. they took the easy money grabing way out instead of being upfront and having trust in the community to support them. its been a money grab since the great silent departure of their writer. Destiny is patch work and at best a droplet of story which is badly drawn out. missing block show this company fell flat and use their celebrity to gain millions of buyers. Even now we have a problem of not enough story and little to do on destiny between now and september with only 1 event planed now in may. So much can be done but this secretive company is just that. trying to piece together a story that does not have a solid foundation. so many parts but the leaders at bungie have no vision or are not able to articulate it well. People like this guy try make bungie live while you come here to down his story telling. If you could do better you would have but since you have nothing but BS and speculation of what bungie thoughts are you get a fail and you get 1 wit to agree with you. when You have some true aspects as well as some skin in the game. work done. then come back, otherwise you can just stay in the small small under the minority.

 • Don't think OP was shooting for accuracy, but rather at cohesive story telling. I would never expect something this long to be added in game as most player are focused on shooting and grinding in this game. Many seem to have the attention span of a ferret judging from some comments, but I expected from Bungie's pre release advertisements a cohesive storyline and some character development. Guess I misunderstood...

 • you would be surprised what players do when they have had enough. games that have videos are always used and frequent more then not. I was reading the person words so when they says inaccurate and then runs off i find that very offensive to the person who did the work. Its a principal that if you find someones work wrong you show where it is wrong and not just sit around calling then out but not explaining yourself. simple as that. when you first get this game you are overwhelmed and i can see wht so many are. but when you become a vet of this game you find yourself wanting more then a daily grind. Story fills the gap and even so lets you play with a different point of view. thats all wahine808 lol. @ karzakal while eris being a hunter or warlock is not fully clear because a picture is worth a thousand words and the man clearly found a photo of early eris as a warlock. id speculate she has many roles. for one hunters dont have orbs, warlocks do. hunters dont have long cloaks. warlocks do. i was looking up info on this subject and guess what. I found nothing of her class description so if you have the actual grimore to say she is a hunter. id love to see the quote. The hive are apart of the darkness due to them stealing not only the guardians light but the travelers light as well. so the description of the darkness can be the stealing of the light from many entities such as the vex and the hive who we all know puts forth a darkness penalty when you fight in their raids. lastly if people want to skip any sort of movie then you make yes make bungie put in a short cut button because a game with long cut scenes without a skip means you are using this cutscene as a loading screen or your people are just lazy. bungie can Do a number of things but lazy or them working on destiny 2 so what the point of improving the current destiny would be on the back burner. simple as that. since destiny 2 is coming this fall destiny one attributes wont be address.

 • 1. I was not making the notion that we decided that the grimoire went in game. That is the developers' decision and so it should remain. I am also well aware of why they hired people to write the grimoire. 2. The video is incorrect on several things. Eris's class is one. She is a Hunter and that can be found in the grimoire. Another is the entire Three Queens section. That quote from Toland refers to the Darkness, not the Hive, and can be found in the Darkness grimoire card section. Those are the major flaws I picked up, but honestly like I said I enjoyed the video. In fact, I think grimoire videos are an excellent idea, just shorter ones. 3. The grimoire cards are an info-dump yes, but an optional one. The player is not forced to watch them, nor would they be if they were implemented. I was merely stating that they should be either skippable or in a side menu. I do in fact know the difference. 4. I said that "I feel like it wasn't in the game", denoting my feelings or opinion. Do not take my word as law, I do not intend for it to be. Also, just because it works for other MMO's does not mean it will work for Bungie. This is a logical fallacy, and thereby also incorrect. However I do see your point about the time it would take to code. But why not have both eventually? What is the harm in being able to access it both in-game and out? 5. I do not know Bungie's motives, therefore I speculate. I give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is my choice. I don't have to burn them at the stake, but this doesn't mean I'm their pet. There is a middle ground. Clearly there are issues with this game, and I'm just trying to provide some constructive criticism so they can be fixed. Listening to the community actually might increase sales and revenue, so even if they are money grabbers it would be in their best interest to listen to us, which they assure us they are. Only time will tell. 6. I think it is an excellent idea that needs tweaking. This guy did an incredible job, and like I've said I like it. I have only a bit of feedback, that being the videos should be shorter and optional if implemented in-game. I do not hate him, nor do I think these videos have no place. I am simply trying to help. If you interpret this as "BS and speculation" then so be it, but know that I am attempting to look at this objectively. I will work and play and grow, and my opinion may change, but in the end what I say is still only my opinion. That even one other person sees the game in the exact way I do is nothing short of spectacular, and I am honored to talk to someone who is rational and kind enough to further provide feedback to my own, yourself included. I will however defend my opinion just like anyone else would, so I wish you the best, and I hope I did not offend you too much.
