I'm pretty curious about this. Are the VEX attempting to create an armada of death stars or something? Lol I originally assumed the VEX turned planets into machines so they can teleport the troops there much easier in case someone is trying to take that planet away from them. Because you already know VEX don't need ships so I'm going to guess they turn planets into giant teleport devices.

Like I said I'm not sure. I think we will find out more about it when we make the inevitable trip to Mercury in a later dlc or game.
