As the title states, I've seen this mentioned several times and I'm curious why this hasn't been requested more by the community. This should be on the top of the user requested changes list, right up there with more vault space.
In my own opinion the Raid (primary) weapons far exceed the usefulness of any Exotic (primary) in the game. Both because they have elemental damage and also because they don't tie up an Exotic slot. By definition the word Exotic should mean 'elite' weaponry, so why are the primary Exotics missing an elemental damage modifier? Why are they not far superior to their Legendary counterparts? I'd gladly take the VoC or Fang of Ir Yut over the Mida Multi Tool any day of the week. Same goes with the Fatebringer or Word of Crota over any other hand cannon. I think most would agree. By the way, I'm speaking in terms of PvE. PvP is an entirely different ball game. I also find the perks, although not as unique, to be better weighted on the Raid primaries. As of late my Primary Exotics have just been occupying vault space and collecting dust. I kinda miss them, but they sadly aren't as practical to use in most situations.
I'd like to hear other peoples views. It would be incredible to hear from DeeJ on this topic with his thoughts as well.
Note: I apologize if Bungie has addressed this before. I am not aware of such a conversation on this topic thus far.

I get what your saying but it really doesn't bother me. Since we can only have one exotic I'm usually using ghorn or ice breaker. I like that raid primary's have elemental damage, it makes them special. In pvp elements don't matter so I'm usually rocking last word, thorn, or the vex.
