People act like this is a fps campaign and not a mmorpg which I don't think a majority of guardians have ever played. Any mmo has a half bit story and feels like devs just reused other stories ideas. Destiny is original and I know Bungie mad a great game and story with Halo but this isn't Halo. The fact about destiny and how Bungie has advertised a world for us to build and shape ourselves, I just hope I can set a milestone and my guardian will be mention in destiny 2 when they discuss the events that happened in the first installment. What's the story in WOW for anyone that has played?

  • Remember that trailer? Boy was I excited back then...
Any mmo has a half bit story and feels like devs just reused other stories ideas.
No. Bungie did not advertize this game as an MMO. If they had, I would not have bothered at all. Their advertisement was geared at pleasing every game play style, which Destiny clearly does not offer. Lone wolf in Destiny is the loneliest and saddest experience. "Best served with friends" indeed.
Made friends with an ogre in Old Russia. We hang, I help him with his computer issues, he stomped on it while raging... But yeah, if you took away the music (the only story telling actually, "Not by words alone"), the only thing left is a beautiful but cold, cold world.
• This game was most definitely advertised as a fps mmorpg.

  • This game was advertised as being everything for everyone, including the lone wolves & campaign lovers. "We can't call it this, or that, but it has elements of this and that..." You can never please everyone. Majority is pleased, majority rules. For those of us who are looking for a less repetitive addiction, there's other choices out there.

  • Weird. I watched alpha and played beta and watched every trailer or excerpt and there were no surprises when this game came out. It's exactly how it was supposed to be, or what they said it was throughout all 2014. There's nothing they said that would be here that isn't and nothing the isn't here that they said would be. I entered my codes for the grimoire in 2013. So if this is a shitstorm pieced together it was shit the whole time and nobody payed attention.

Each expansion of WoW has a separate story. You play through them and some are quite good. The raids incorporate major battles in the story line. Wrath of the Lich King for example, was about a major paladin falling to the darkness and coming back as the king of the undead. The game played with you trying to take him out and stop the end of the world.

  • The only problem is that MMOs have atleast half bit stories. They may not be very good but for the most part they are complete. Destiny's problem is that 95% of the story is in grimoire cards which aren't even included in the damn game. And the story that they do have is so segmented and disparate from one another that it is hard to make out what the story was supposed to be in the first place.

The thing is we are in the time just after the collapse. In the game your given all the info of the world around you (yes I know dinkledik acts like we know a ton of shit) but then all the stuff we experience in game (weapon, places, enemies) are all broken down more in the grimiore once we claim them. I understand it could be in game but I feel like Bungie wanted to cut the reading from npcs out (being a console game), I always dreaded all the reading from all the npcs but now you do kinda miss it. It was just a innovative thing to try that failed to most the community but I disagree with any comment about the story being broken. We are creating and playing it, the game hasn't been out for 6 months yet. Edit: guild wars 2 releases their story in sections (although there is more to do and more rewards for many other "in-between" activities) and it was a very nice effect for keeping gameplay and longevity of players.
