Venus has something called a GreenHouse effect. It keeps heat trapped and it stays in the Planets atmosphere. Yes, Mercury is VERY hot, but Venus is hotter.

Mercury is receiving more heat than Venus but Venus retains more heat in it's atmosphere. Mercury loses it right away. Heating up Venus much more. Greenhouse effect.
