No they tried to copy that part of dark souls except that was all in game. Not grimore and it was intricate to the point of even where you pick up items tells a story. Dead ghosts are barely area specific and the rest isn't really at all. Nothing to read or find in game compared to dark souls inventory weapons and areas so sorry destiny is a poor imitation of that kind of story telling.
Also I'll wait for you to compare the number of Npcs and their dialogue. Part of the story is there but don't tell me that this was their plan. It might have worked if it had at least a 1/10 of the depth
