Why aren't YOU using Shotguns in PVE?
Do share, why don't you use them? And I'd rather have more specific reason than "I don't like them" (which is a valid reason ofcourse), because I'm curious why don't you like them.

I do use shotguns in PVE. Of course, shotguns have been my favorite weapon since I've started playing shooters. I rock invective, it's easily my favorite exotic.

I try to keep everything at range, but there's nothing wrong using one if I have to. I'm saving up my marks for the New Monarchy one, I love the way that thing looks. edit - I've been seriously contemplating going to the Universal Remote on one of my alts, just to see how well it works after I get it fully upgraded.

There lack of range after the initial debuf makes around 90% of them useless against pve enemys pus you get more dps out of fusions and snipers and can be far away

Because this. If you can hit a person square in the chest with buckshot from 25 feet away without even aiming down the sights in real life, you should be able to do the same in a game with "futuristic weapons."

1 ReplyHard to get an big kill streak with shottys but easy to kill 1 or 2 people so it seems like a scrub gun to me. Doesn't take much skill to shoot a persons anywhere in the body coming around a corner to get a kill. No skill = won't use

1. Most PvE engagements I find myself in are at a range shotguns aren't effective. 2. A burst from a fusion rifle can output more consistent damage at better ranges, while still being nearly as good up close 3. When it comes to bosses, Fusion's are good because they can usually get all the bursts on the target, and snipers can hit crit points for great damage at range. Shotguns, on the other hand, put you into the range of every bosses insta-death AoE melee attack. Unless they buff the range and tighten shotguns cone of fire, they're never going to be useful outside of trash-clearing and PvP.

If you need close range it's more effective to use a fusion rifle. Also for the most part I have a sniper equipped.

Use them alot in strikes, but in raids you often dont want to get so close to the mobs, because it's risky. In strikes it's ok to go down a few times just to have fun with shotguns :)

All bosses have smash I rather hand cannons with volatile rounds or firefly for hoard mobs. I think a good fix is get the shotty spread wide and damaging. This will give more kills per shot Edit Or mar invective work like icebreaker... Boom

I love them, but literally every boss has a ground stomp that kills you for getting in shotgun range. A lot of encounters are also at mid range, so shotguns aren't ideal. Gonna love using them in vault up until atheon now, though.

It's the only shotgun worth using in PVE imo because of the regen. Not worth an exotic slot though. also, shotguns replace ice breaker. You know, one of the best weapons in the entire game.

Because I prefer to use long to medium range weapons. Not something that I have to get up really close to use. The only shotgun I've ever used is the invective. Although I might use them a bit more in pve now that there being buffed.

Cause they just can't do as much damage as a sniper and id rather not get up close in end game content

3 RepliesThey don't do as much damage as they should to high level enemies. You should be able to stare a 33 knight in the eyes then blow his head off. I'm going to be a lot more interested once they get this buff. 2x more damage

Love my arc crash with full auto and luck in the chamber for vog against praetorians. Beast in pvp tho.

5 RepliesIt's pretty obvious a lot of people on this thread have never gotten their hands on a Secret Handshake.. Or any shotgun with the shot package perk for that matter. Shotguns are definitely one of the funnest guns to use. Blade Dancing Hunter w/ Don't Touch Me's & a Secret Handshake = one hell of a good time

In pve or pvp? In pve they do nothing in pvp however you can 1 shot someone from a ridiculous range. I don't use them because I like to challenge myself when playing against other people. Don't care how many kills I get as long as I'm not crouched around a corner waiting for someone to come by I'd rather enjoy playing and not hiding
