The problem was never with the damage, the problem is the range. It doesn't matter how hard you hit if you're dead after the first shot because you have to stand so close to the enemies.

Yep, I completely agree. This is why I think the buff is VERY counter intuitive! They would be better off by just giving us swords instead. :p
