They are two completely different systems running on different softwear. If they wanted to combine the two, they would have to redesign the online servers together. This will cost a lot, plus competition is good for both companies. Means they are constantly developing new ideas and progressing. One thing I'd do away with, exclusive titles and content. I don't think the games you want to play should be limited by what console you have. Doesn't seem fair, especially in these hard times.
