It's my favorite weapon to use against the Cabal, Minotaurs, and Hive Knights. Fallen Captains are too agile and quick. The trick is to strafe away from their line of sight as you fire, so you avoid their melee attack. Also, if your class has a melee activated over shield, incorporate it into your shotgun usage.
