Tin foil hat time: Does Bungie have an algorithm that calculates player pissed offedness?

So, here I am with over 920 hours (according to XBL) invested in this game, not including the Beta time, and just about at the end of my tether because a few things have eluded me, such as initially IceBreaker, Gjallarhorn, Fatebringer and Black Hammer. (I have a full time job and family, otherwise it probably would be more... And no I don't PvP. I just don't like the game style and I do suck). The thoughts of taking a break were bubbling through, and lo and behold, IB drops in the exotic chest in VoG hard... The night before Xur sells it. (I'm cool with the whole Xur selling excellent weapons thing, because I do believe that coins are earned through PvE gameplay). This week, I was getting over seeing various fresh players running around with Gjallarhorn, and posts by people with about 1/9th the time invested with it. It was refusing to drop, and raid after raid, all I was getting was energy and shards. In both raids. Yeah on my first CE Hard, I scored 3 of the 4 primaries, which I was grateful for, but the next one was DB (enough already with the dragons breath... I have had 4 or 5 of them and kept one maxxed out, sharded the rest) and shards/energy (with the warlock helmet thrown in). Nice, but you know, not what I had been chasing for months. No, I don't have a sense of entitlement, and I do understand RNG, but it was getting frustrating, and I was contemplating taking a break again last night. So we (a couple of friends and I) ran nightfall for my third character, expecting to receive shards and energy again (the other guys, bless their cotton socks had already completed it on their 2 chars) and at the end, Gjallarhorn drops. So off to the Vault we go, doing a hard run, when at the templar, I score FB... We had to bail at Atheon as it was getting late, but wow, talk about re-invigorating the grind for relic iron and bounties... So this lead me to these thoughts... Bungie, via Activision (and any Halo data they were allowed to keep), has access to millions of players data. They'd be able to profile players by their play style, and possibly profile them. When does a player quit? What is the category the player falls into, and how can we keep them baited? This player profile will quit after x many hours, so lets drop this awesome item a few hours game time before they make that decision... These 2 items will certainly keep me playing for the next few weeks. TL;DR: Gamer gets the shits after so many hours because of elusive drop items. Contemplates taking a break. Elusive items drop. Is this gamer profiling?
