Whats the attraction with Hand Cannons?
I've used a couple and they always have very little ammo and massive recoil, why do I see loads of players using them?! Surely a scout rifle is the better equivalent, is it not?

I prefer my Last Word in PvP, but use a scout rifle in PvE. I didn't really use hand cannons at all until I got The Last Word, though

From what I've gathered, hand cannons are much more effective in 1v1s than other weapon types. However, as soon as you get two or more enemies in the same encounter, it's very hard to win that fight. If you can position yourself well, they are definitely a viable option (at least for pvp).

The game is about space cowboys and cowboys are known for carrying hand guns which look a lot like hand cannons. Mystery solved.

High impact shots leave enemies reeling, allowing the chance for an easy headshot. Very helpful against phanlaxes. Plus a satisfying BAM!

They take some finesse to use.

Hand Cannon are the pinnacle of precision weapons. Using hand cannons the proper way show a highly skilled player that will wait for te perfect shot instead of firing tons of bullets to kill something. Hand cannons reward precision shots over rapid fire and deal the most precision damage to targets.

Hit harder. Usually 1 hit everything. Recoil won't matter if he's dead. And then of course most of the perks reduce recoil and increase range so it's guud

I like being able to take down targets quickly and with minimal effort if my aim is decent at the point in time. Two shots on most lower tier engines with precision damage, two shots in crucible with precision. Ultimately it's the feel Of the weapon for me though, I love the heavy kick back after knowing I just put two rounds into a skull and my enemy is dead. :))

Higher precision % if you've got a good aim. With that higher precision %, you also get better precision damage per bullet which equates to much faster TTK

They're badass! It's also quicker to aim and handle and you don't get tunnel vision like aiming a scout rifle. They're more versatile I think since a scout rifle in close quarters doesn't really work out too well but hand cannons can hold their own in tight spades since you can aim quicker and more accurately.

Take down a phalanx with 1 headshots, while rifles take 3 or 4 shots to kill it. The massive recoil is because of the damage. To balance things out massive damage = great recoil.

4 RepliesDon't listen to anyone in the forums the real reason is because you look like a blaming bad blam if you are a hunter. So you can look like a space cowboy ranger. And all the warlocks and titans know that only hunters can look like space ranger cowboys in destiny just like how everyone that's a warlock decided to be a warlock to look like a Jedi starlord. It is not a opinion it is a fact. Hunters use hand cannons to look like a space ranger cowboy. And titans and warlocks use it because they don't have anything better than their precious hawk moon or thorn. Lol

2 RepliesThey one shot most mobs and do massive damage to higher tier enemies, often staggering them in the process. They handle extremely well at close/medium range and allow you to keep your field of vision open. Fatebringer remains one of the best PvE weapons in the game. WoC is underrated and one of the best raid primaries, at least in terms of versatility. Plus, Hunters and Hand Cannons are like peanut butter and jelly.

If on ps4 wait till you get the hawkmoon if Xbox wait for fatebringer. I didn't use handcannons till I got hawkmoon

1 ReplyNext time you're out on patrol do a little test. Take your favorite scout rifle vs ANY maxed lengendary handcannon and I guarantee you the handcannon will not only do more damage, but more damage at range. My 8-shot TLW will out DPS the Multi-tool, AT RANGE!!!, any day of the week! Dont even get me started on Fatebringer.
