• Dead Orbit: Analysis The birth of Dead Orbit was both instantaneous and prolonged in the wake of the Collapse; escaping Earth as it fell became a priority for the remaining civilians who, with military defence, tried to escape the wrath of the Fallen. Many civilians were able to escape, most only making it as far as the Reef, few surviving to become the Awoken. Their fate unknown to survivors on Earth, many still hoped for an escape from Earth, fuelled initially by blind nihilism and pessimism, and members of this train of thought were amongst those that first gathered under the Traveller. Unlike the others gathered there, the Guardians and humans subscribed saw their construction as a temporary port in preparation for escape; their ultimate goal was escape, not just from Earth, but from Sol, the Solar System and the Darkness. Out of post-Collapse depression came a strange sense of optimism; renewed purpose for expansion and the chance of another Golden Age in stars abroad. From this early period, Dead Orbit officially began to form. Organised into various groups, each headed by an Arach, and as the first Awoken returned to Earth this only grew. A partnership with Omolon, an energy weapons manufacturer, brought practicality to their once-impossible goal. Dead Orbit began forming a fleet, gathering weapons and armour, and modifying them for any hypothetical conditions the long voyage could bring. At this point, Dead Orbit's ideology began to clash, with the pure practicality of certain Arachs (recognisably, Jalaal) clashing with the pure idealism of others. To offset this early trouble, the Faction Wars (a brief clash between the City's many groups that was so bad no-one ever talks about it) took place, giving Dead Orbit a direct enemy in the form of New Monarchy. The War made Dead Orbit realise the importance of Guardian support, rather than civilian aid. Increasing emphasis on Lord Shaxx's Crucible was made, as training for both interstellar combat and a possible coup against New Monarchy started. Their driven dedication to escaping Earth, and a disbelief at the credibility of both the Consensus and New Monarchy, makes Dead Orbit a threat to any Earth-based group in their way, but also makes them humanities' best chance at establishing itself away from Earth.

Future War Cult, New Monarchy, Dead Orbit, any other factions I should know of? And what distinguishes these other Factions?

    • Future War Cult The War Cult is perhaps the most important of the cities three main factions and the oldest. The Grimoire states they found something in Tibet during the Golden Age known simply as "The Device." Sometime after the Golden Age, they sent subjects into the device. One saw a future of Darkness, another saw the City in flames. 11 timelines showed that the Darkness prevailed. 13 said the City was destroyed. 23 were not understandable. 47 subjects in total.

      • The Hidden: Primer The Hidden are a group of Guardians dedicated to defeating our most mysterious enemies (namely the Hive and the Vex) by attaining a greater understanding of their technology, physiology and objective. Despite this being largely an intellectual matter, members of the Hidden were required to be skilled fighters as well as trustworthy as the Hidden was, an continues to be, a secret sect of the Vanguard. Hidden Agents: Ikora Rey: - Warlock Eris Morn: - (Formerly) Hunter * Eriana-3: - Warlock (Deceased) * Toland (the Shattered): - Warlock (Unknown/Likely Deceased) * (Theoretically) Osiris: - Warlock (Unknown) Omar Agah: - Hunter (Deceased) * Sai Mota: - Hunter (Deceased) * Vell Tarlowe: -Titan (Deceased) * (* - Participants of the Hellmouth Raid) History: Established shortly after the First Battle for Luna (when the Hive, lead by Crota, first took the Moon), the Hidden swore to reclaim and avenge the Guardians lost upon the Moon. Eventually, against the advice of Ikora Rey, the Hidden organised a force of hundreds of Guardians to fight in the Second Battle for Luna and take back the Moon. Preliminary success' blinded the Guardians and they were ambushed as they tried to breach the Temple of Crota. Guardians forced inside the Temple by the trap were massacred as Crota himself appeared to lead a counter-attack. The battle became a bloodbath as Crota slaughtered any remaining Guardians on the surface as the Hidden began to evacuate. Crota was weakened in the Battle and retreated into the Hellmouth as the surviving Hidden agents recovered and fled. Moving quickly and (again) against the advice of Ikora, the surviving Hidden leadership decided to strike at the heart of the Hellmouth and kill Crota while he recovered. The group of 5 was set upon by Toland the Shattered (an exiled Warlock, believed insane and creater of the Bad Juju) who offered his assistance. In no position to refuse, the Hidden accepted and set off into the Hellmouth. The group became trapped in the pit and began to be picked off one-by-one by the Hive leadership; Tarlowe was swarmed by Thralls, Omar Agah was captured and tortured by the Heart of Crota, Mota was slain by Omnigul. Out of the remaining 3, it is likely that Eriana-3 was betrayed by Toland. Toland had, up until that point, been giving cryptic hints at what he had been doing since his exile and the group too late became aware that he had been in direct communication with, and possibly now working for, Crota. Eris, now in the deepest depths of the Hellmouth and with her Light drained, was forced to wield the Darkness to survive both Crota's servants and Toland's pursuit. After spending years, hunted in the Dark, Eris emerged changed; her Light replaced by something else. Upon completing Eris' quests, the Player becomes a member of the Hidden and, with Crota's death and Oryx's return, the group is becoming powerful once more.

        • the three factions we do have are radically different in their mantras and their endgames seem vastly counter-productive, they clearly don't like eachother, could a power struggle be on the horizon? a faction war perhaps???
