This sounds like the perfect group

Hey Dads, I told my wife "honey you know that game I've been playing. They have a group of dads that play as well." She laughed and said "that's perfect for you, maybe you can have some people join you now." That's pretty good considering she doesn't care about the game. She listens just enough to get my personal frustration. My wife enjoys me unwinding with the game, as we all need our personal time. But I don't have the time like I used to, with three kids all becoming decent gamers its hard to lock up a time slot for the PS4. I get a few maybe a couple hours a night after work. I have played really hard at getting where I am today with my level 31 warlock and my youngest playing the hunter level 12 and middle guy using the titian level 11. With them its all patrol missions and coaching from dad with the ever growing fear of accidentally dismantling a good piece of equipment when I'm at work or helping with dinner. My time is 9pm, generally after a long day at work and family life. I play till I find myself running into virtual walls during a Crucible's match some nights but this time frame is all I got. The game is so fun and exciting and I love every min I get, however the frustration kicks in a little when knowing Raids are the only way to reach the top level of 32. VoG needs min 3 people and I have done nothing but watch (mostly help) groups get through the first check point. I don't have enough online friends or real friends that play to set up a raid party. Funny enough, a fellow father who walks his kid to school with me plays and we were able to link up and did the weekly night fall. That happen once as or schedules don't match. But I was so happy to have the experience and help. I went into a supporting role and we dominated it. Since it was a strike that I have played before it went very well. I guess I'm appealing to this groups understanding of time lines and family requirements to help me find a tour guide for the raids; including crotas end. Can this group help me find an experienced player(s) willing to walk with me through the parts of the game that require a fire team? I'm an asset not a liability, and a good to average gamer, but I'm defiantly a dad first. FireGOD_2

    • MattP gives great advice below...here's a little more. Battleborn is a PS4 clan that is focused on raiding and other group activities: https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Forum/523657/0/1/0 Knights is a good group as well -- https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Forum/240850/0/1/0 The admins of those groups are active and will do their best to introduce you to other DoD's within and around the clan if you throw a post on their boards here. A fair amount of clans seem to be heading towards other apps/google docs to create signup sheets for raids and whatnot, just to try and stay organized. Personally I try to peruse as many boards as i can to try and increase my friends list to the point where there's always someone on playing during the same time. Every DoD that I've come across on multiple platforms has been both helpful and fun to play with. I'm always learning new things about the game, whether it be mechanical (light level flashing if teammate super is charged) or strategies. Have fun! PS - I'll add you next time I'm able -- PSN: JohnQBucky

    • You sound like me! I've been an avid gamer for years, but Destiny has really hooked me. 2 of my 3 kids are also into Destiny and recently I've taken to leveling up their characters for them, since they have been mostly focused on patrols. I've now got my own 32 Hunter, my 8 year old's 31 Titan and my other 8 year old's 26 Warlock. Between their Destiny and Minecraft time I rarely get on my XBox One, until after 10 pm when they go to bed, so I typically have some late nights.

    • You'll surely find a group. Go to http://www.dadsofdestiny.net/members/. Enter in your selection criteria (probably just use time period playing, console, mic and perhaps one more). You'll get 200+ members. Look for those that are most active (I assumed that if someone had changed their avatar, they were more active) and send friend requests. Also, if you grab a $25 Logitech bluetooth keyboard from Best Buy (or elsewhere), it makes it 10x easier. It took me 30 minutes to send 60 friend requests one night. Also, you can't get to lvl 32 with Vault of Glass gear. Gotta be Crota's End gear. But, the good news is that Crota is both shorter AND easier to do things solo! So, you can often get through certain parts all by yourself. Just be willing to die A LOT while you're learning. Heck, you can get through the first 2 parts all by yourself, only having to kill 3 ogres.
