Im doing iron banner for my boots to boost me to 30, im really enjoying it this time round. I'm owning all the lower levels lol apart from them dam 30's :-)

I'm not much for PvP myself either, but I do find it as a nice change in pace when doing Strikes repeatedly. I'm also finding that the extra XP that Control provides help to level up my weapons more quickly. This, in turn, helps me be more effective in higher level strikes in PvE.

I wasn't a big PvP person before playing Destiny. As most, I was forced into as part of an exotic bounty task. After much trail and error, I'm beginning to enjoy it! The most rewarding part is assembling a 6 man fire team of DoD'ers to learn maps and just have fun (win or loss).

Though I am a PvP guy I feel your pain because I get bored of PvE quickly. Bounties that require a bunch of strikes drives me bonkers. Not saying one is better than the other, just that I have a clear preference. I equate the raid to being PvE but could be wrong. To date we've had one week of Queen's wrath and (until this week) one week of Iron Banner. The Iron Banner is roughly the PvP equivalent of the Raid except it isn't available once a week. The long PvP grind is a wash to the raid RNG. Don't know about you but, if I add up all my fruitless hours in the raid and compare to the time grinding IB for one week I'll have the gloves and boots sooner using IB. My $0.02... PvP can be especially tough when running with a random fire team. It's like a good raid team. Yeah you can possibly do it with randoms but a group of people used to working with each other makes things so much smoother. Not to mention a lot more fun. If you are on XB1 and want to try running PvP with a more seasoned group, look for any of the DoD Legends X1 crew. We aren't remotely "MLG" and we play to have fun. If you go buy the KDR metric, one look at mine proves that point :). The more experienced guys are always willing to give advice and pointers if you ask and are pretty understanding. Just send one of us a message that you are looking for a PvP group.

Ditto brother ... i have no use for pvp... i guess im just a bad loser cause i wanna punch somebody in the face when they dance over my dead body...lol.. seems like you need to grind something like the iron banner non stop for days to really get anything out of it... im sure my wife would understand me being online for a week straight.... too much pressure to be there all the time or not really get rewarded....much rather play when i can doing raids or strikes or weeklys or even nightfalls with other dods....

Man honestly I hate normal crucible because its too...balanced...but to actually play in the iron banner its all holds barred!! Its like pve meets PvP where all your damage and defence upgrades make a difference in the match. My shotgun isn't fully upgraded(1 damage upgrade to go) and I can see the effect on a fully upgraded titan...I leave him with a sliver of health and if I don't melee him fast enough I'm dead. I would suggest trying iron banner once or twice with a group of experienced dads, its fun just to blow people away sometimes
-
Yep im with u jake, the only time i ever entered the crucible was coz i had to for my exotic weapon bounties (dont get me started) other than that i dont play it at all. I dont mind about the iron banner coz i enjoy playing pve enough to ignore it. It would be nice for some more recurring pve events though, i think there will be in time.

I have some friends like that but I've always been pulled toward competitive game types. Though, the PvP in Destiny should not by any means be looked at as competitive because there is so much imbalance it's hard to be consistent. I'm not complaining about it but just pointing out that there is so much imbalance that I doubt it will ever be balanced. PvE does not blend into PvP and I don't think it ever will be.
-
I with you. Don't like PvP but the raid is a blast. Just need a consistent team.
-
m trying to get on a little every night but will play the majority Friday and Saturday Night(hello tempered buff!) I'm not much of a crucible guy but I'm getting better. I think going in with a fire team is a better idea to help snag those awesome pieces of armor...if you want to add me and play some iron banner this week hit me up. PSN: dirtslow ~ everyone relax, I'm here.

I'm not much of a crucible player myself, but the iron banner is actually fun. I like that it's control (capture the objectives) because it gives you direction of where the action is. Matches are hit or miss with good teams. Sometimes you will get served, and other times you will be surprised with yourself. I think the best kill/death ratio I had was 1.0. I think if you come in with the same mentality as trying out vog for the first time (getting your feet wet, seeing how well your weapons handle it, learning to pull your own weight yet also relying on others) you might be able to enjoy it a bit. Last night me and 2 others from my DoD clan were playing in separate matches and a strike, but talking to each other on party chat. Even if I was in a bad match, I still enjoyed listening to someone else having a good match while another guy talks about shooting septiks prime with rockets.

I hate PVP but after 9 weeks of no raid boots, I'm grinding to rank 3 in iron banner to buy the boots and hit 30 on my 3rd character -__- So... Much.. Rage though.
-
I don't do any pvp. I did some Iron Banner the first round but haven't this time. I played he Queens Wrath alot. Got a sniper, legendary ship and gear out of it. Thought of doing Iron Banner this time but to get rank 4 in 1 week for gear. I will pass as well.

I used to feel the same way. I would avoid it like the plague on every game I've ever played. But, playing with 5 other DoD members makes it awesome. Even if we do get owned most of the time. Which I'm OK with cuz we are getting a little better with it each time. I finally stopped standing still while firing and trying to Rambo and punch guys in the face. Don't get me wrong. I still can't seem to get my K/D over .5 most of the time and I do have the "Blam this Blaming guy!" and "Oh god how did that just happen?!" moments but in the end I'm coming out having fun.
