If you are going to focus on melee and the up close style of blade dancer, I recommend a pistol or auto rifle for primary. You aren't going to need the zoom of a scout or pulse rifle. Also a shotgun is key. If you've been used to Titan, I'd wager you're used to melee and shotgun combo. The heavy, whatever you like. Bladedancer is relatively easy to use, though difficult to master. Focus on the gunplay and working on blinking around your opponents. The special is easy to use. You'll figure out the best timing on that eventually. If you can keep your enemy turning in circles looking for you, you'll be fine.

I use golden gun with combustion in crucible, teaches teams not to group up around a position.

Handcannons are best cause you will need something to protect you up close, You are doing the oposite from me I started as hunter and trying out Titan.... And melee combat is awesome now . So forget melee combat blink strike is good for going quickly invisible and running away to get cover . Oh and never go one on one melee with any class except hunter in crucible if warlock or Titan are full health no chance , free kill for them. There is a 'backstab' mod which one shots melee but you need to not only get close but behind them lol, not going to be useful , best just always use 'escape artist' ... Also pve mod 100% weapons ready immediately , is an incredible perk!

Golden gun is easier to use, but far less customisable and powerful. For crucible you will want to have shadow jack 'crouch cloaking' and 'prolonged invisibility ' , this is free invisibility so why not!? Perfect for holding a zone. When you get your super , change over or already have 'mask of the third man' which gives you a longer blandancer streak.... Then switch to from shadow jack to the 'each kill prolongs super' one. Then you need to kinda wait for a load of red somewhere , turn it on then press r2 for cloak , and gets as close before starting , always press r1 so you are constantly moving and become an irritating target , use blink strike combined to catch up to anyone running away . Then switch back to shadow jack , repeat ... Reek havoc

Whether in PvE or PvP (which if you look at my stats in PvP you will see my advice is not worth squat) don't stop moving movement is your best friend as a hunter. You are fast for a reason. You can build a hunter to be extremely fast. Mine is tempered with some armor and recovery because once an enemy's health bar gets to a certain point I won't stop shooting it till it's dead even if I'm getting shot (I know it's dumb). Also one of my favorite skills is the throwing knife. It makes me giggle every time and it has saved me when low on health trying to reload more than once. Also when you stick it for a crit it makes you feel super badass.
