Memorial Post - First Born

To all of DoD.... Today 6 years ago my wife and I lost our first son, full term stillborn, due to a blood clot during labor. As I hug my boys 5 and 2 today I give thanks for having them and remember the boy we lost. I am sure there a fathers amongst us that have lost children that will understand this pain that never leaves, and for those that don't, cherish every moment you get as it is the greatest gift you can ever receive is to be a Dad. I Post this not for sympathy but to remind the community who we are and that we all face adversity in life, but to never forget we are all here together..... We are the Dads of Destiny!! Eyes up and follow the light guardians as you never know when the darkness will try to consume you. Thank you. (no need to reply unless you want to.)

  • Thank you for sharing my friend. My wife and I lost our 1st about 5yrs ago, at his 25th week, due to unforeseen pregnancy issues, causing him to come prematurely. Though, we were able to spend the last few hours he had, with him in our arms, he went home to the Father. These complications prevent us from having another safe pregnancy. Due to this we explored our options, and ended up going with surrogacy. Our bun in another oven. We have since been blessed with twins. Both eggs "took" and BOOM, 1 boy and 1 girl at 3.5yrs now. While, we relish in the joy of double blessing now, it's always hard looking back to Lukas, our 1st.

  • This is a great reminder to us fathers. Thank you for sharing that. It really puts things in perspective for me. I've had one of those days with my boy that makes me wonder if this is punishment for when I was a child, this put me back in the right mindset of how much I love the little monster. Thank you.

  • So sorry for your loss. I am literally getting choked up just empathizing. I've got 2 healthy ones and I get scared just thinking about all the early childhood diseases they could possibly one day get diagnosed with. We've just got to do our best to love them while we can.
