Just confirming that I did receive a Crucible Commendations this week without playing Crucible. I equipped my FWC warlock bond and did patrols, etc and once I hit the next level I received the commendation. So you have nothing to fear.

I definitely got a crucible commendation on DLC day for levelling up my FWC rep.
-
I've already gotten a crucible commendation, without playing crucible. I believe it was from a faction package picked up from the post office.

My guardian is gonna majorly mismatched but I sport it with pride. AND I don't use a shader. So you get the full effect of all my mismatched armor Arms and legs from NM Exotic helm And chest from Vanguard WHATS UPPP

Edited by TheCurlyWolf: 12/11/2014 3:36:10 PMTotally agree. Not to mention there are some inherit logical flaws in this progression system. Follow this: You can get a max of 100 crucible marks per week (CM) with a total cap of 200 CM. Now, the only way (so far, hopefully they add them as random rewards or achieving certain medals or bounties) to get a Crucible Commendation (CC) is to rank up rep. Now, IDK about others but it takes about a two weeks of play for me to level up Crucible rep, I'm only still 4 (versus 8 on Vanguard). BUT I can usually cap out the 100 in about two days, that means for the vast majority of my time I get no marks, and if I hit the cap limit, I get no marks. Then once I level up rep, I can get ONE item from Crucible, leaving me with AT LEAST 50 marks left over. So this boils down to a practical limit, even if you leveled up rep twice as fast, of ONE crucible item a week, and for me one every TWO weeks. This seems really slow, more than twice the time it took before. I get that they felt the legendaries were too prevalent, but this is overkill. To get the newer higher lvl weapons it could take me several MONTHS for one of each type using BOTH Vanguard and Crucible. Never mind the new armor. Fortunately for me I had a suspicion based other...questionable...decisions that they might try something stupid like this and purposely leading up to the expansion left all my reps for factions (FWC, NM, DO, Crucible, Vanguard, Crypt) just a 100 points for going up. Good thing, it let me start with a few commendations and some new armor to give myself a jump. But if I had lvl a day before I'd be pretty peeved.

I'm just gonna use my CM's to buy materials etc. and save my VM's for weapons/armor

It does seem like a vary simplistic way to restrict progression. There are a couple of pieces of vanguard armour (boots/gloves I think) which don't require commendations.

Vanguard is where it's at

I level up vanguard much more quickly.
