So how are things? Wife and I are trying to decide if we are calling it after 5 or not. Interested in a fresh opinion.

spayed my wifey :P

Thanks to everyone who posted here, I'm not so nervous anymore.

Planker, I had mine done nearly 11 years ago. And as my wife just pointed out again when I mentioned this post, it's the best thing I did for our sex life. Chill out and play lots of Destiny.

Planker is getting dismantled for glimmer

The worst part of the entire experience... was the negative anticipation leading up the the procedure. The actual procedure was probably no worse than getting a filling done. It really isn't that bad. Just a pinch and a really odd sensation in the nethers when the anesthetic is administered. After that a couple of tugs and pulls and you're out the door. My doc gave me a prescription for some pain meds but never really needed them. Just take it easy after the procedure. Do something like play Destiny for a few days and let the wife hand you ice packs/frozen peas when you need em. Simply put, it's worth it.

Been decommissioned myself seven years ago after three kids. Its a solid decision i dont regret.

Put simply, this is the Dad's job. Compared to the female equivalent (tubal ligation) it's easier (I had mine done under local anaesthetic) and safer. Simple pain relief, loose pants/shorts, etc. Although both male and female procedures can theoretically be "reversed", you should consider the procedure irreversible. (Disclaimer: I am an Anaesthetist)

It's not as bad as they make it out. It is uncomfortable for sure. Have a few bags of frozen peas in the fridge for the first 24 hours. They say to take the next few days off but I was back working the next day. Use your judgement there.

First off depending on your age they will consult with you about the procedure, but I'm going to give you the simple stat that may make a difference in your decision. Ultimately the procedure gives you the same chance of pregnancy as wearing (properly) a condom 99.998%. SO if you don't mind them and have doubts about the procedure it is something to consider. Especially if you MIGHT want any further kids down the road. That's basically what your consult will cover besides the break down of the procedure itself, that I'll leave to the doctor. If you go through with the procedure helpful tips: - Bag of frozen peas, get two so you can rotate them in the fridge. - DO NOT sit suddenly for the first two days, the most common way to pop/burst stitches. - Do not let the Wife tempt you for again the first two days, just don't. - Don't visit a Hooters/TiltenKilt/etc right away Basically come home, ice up, and think of Margret Thatcher on a cold day for 48 hours. Typically most guys have it done on a Friday and are back to work without notice on Monday and the whole thing takes like less than 30 mins, you can even drive yourself too and from.

I had it done 9 months ago, aside from discomfort the pain was bearable with meds and I took a few days off to sit on the couch and play xbox. It take a while to be effective, after 4 months got the all clear and its been 'fun' times since.

Absolutely worth it!

Had it done 3 weeks ago. The first few days you are a bit sore, don't over due physical activity. I was fine in about 3 days.
-
The anticipation is the worst but it's just a pinch and then some days of soreness. A good nutshot during sports hurts way more! Invest in a jockstrap to keep the boys nice and snug for those first days. Swaying is not your friend for those first few days hah! In the end you doing the responsible thing and after its over the real fun begins! Oh and yeah milk the s**t outta those recovery days!

I posted something about this a while back, but don't know where/how to find the link in the app (titled Snip Snip)...I had mine done the week before Christmas. The advice I'd give is that, while apparently a lot of guys heal quicker than me (or aren't totally honest about their condition), better give yourself a week or so to recover. Took me 4 days to go back to work, & it was a solid week before I would say I was anything other than uncomfortable. The doc told me it was fairly common for things to heal slower than the commonly discussed 48 hours. Other guys I talked to after the fact had the same experience. Still totally worth it, but don't be planning on doing anything real active right after that "48 hours." Y,know, like moving/lifting Christmas presents, etc.

Did it a month ago. After two days in the recline playing destiny with bags of frozen peas I was back at work. Little tender for a week or so, but well worth it. Love those little rug rats, but boy r they expensive!
-
I have three boys and had done a few years back for the same reasons. Well worth it as opposed to the dangers wifey would have encountered. Was able to play rugby a month later.

I've always heard the rate of getting snipped goes way up on playoff weekends because you get a 3 day couch sabbatical with dr orders.

You sir are a braver man than I will ever be.
