I think it's all your decision I believe that it is just the perks that make it differently. I have made it through the lamps mulptiple times by myself then the team follows and all thrall are on me and I am a Warlock. Yes I do have fire born on but I also put a fire shield on and everytime I melee I take less damage so I melee a lot. It's just what your comfortable running.

I've seen a Titan solo the lamps/abyss section legit on Crota's End by having a little more speed and maxing out toughness as a 31. Never seen any other class take that kind of damage. A key difference with Titans is that the Defender has a melee attack that gives them a temporary shield which drastically reduces incoming damage. This means that they can melee a cursed thrall and not die from the point blank explosion as easily as the other classes. Titans do have more armor than any other class but that seems to be more aesthetics than actually mattering more than the defense rating of the character. Ultimately, yes Titans are the most tank-like class in Destiny because of the perks you can enable, not because their armor has a higher defense rating (it's 1626 at level 32 for everyone that I've seen so far).

I have no idea what these stats do. One of the issues with the game IMO. Destiny does a poor job of explaining and/or demonstrating what these qualities do. Most other RPGs would take the time to explain these attributes and how they each have positives and negatives. Hell, I'm still unsure about the attack on certain weapons. Some of my powerful exotics do the same as legendaries and rares despite very different attack power.
