a father's place

So reality just sunk in... My wife is out of town due to her sister being induced. I'm watching my two kids. My daughter looks to me and says, "dad, I like when you babysit us"... babysit. Yep.. my place in this household holds no throne. Just a cot and a bucket of fish heads for dinner.

  • I'm a stay at home parent, or as my wife calls me a professional dad; I am in charge of my kids 24/7 and am actually insulted when people ask me if I'm babysitting. Now the only people that say that shit to me are dads, women love seeing a man take care of his kids in public. I've gone on field trips with my son while my daughter was strapped to my chest all day long and got compliments left and right from the women around me.

    • I feel ya man. My wife said the other day "I don't really trust anyone to watch the baby" I said "anyone?...." She looked me dead in the eye and said "yes...I meant you as well". I've got 10yrs experience with our first but somehow don't qualify.

      • OUCH! I'd be so upset if anyone referred to me staying home with my kids as "babysitting." Especially coming from my daughter! My wife and I have switched back and forth between who's the stay at home parent due to us both having our daughter before we finished school and got full careers on track, so thankfully we are both equally understanding of each others roles no matter what the situation. Babysitting.... The more I think of the word, the more pain I feel for ya.

        • I'm right there with you buddy. My ol lady left out of town for her cousins 21st b day party and I'm at home with the kids who are both mommas little babies hahaha. I ask the one if he's hungry and says, "yeah but I only like it when mom makes it" and the little one is pissed I'm home and mom isnt. Lol. She asked me why didn't I leave and mom stay. I'm just chop liver here yall.
