Wow is this considered CHEATING?

Yes, without a doubt, cheating

1215

No, just being strategic

Forgive my ignorance, but I just came across this and don't know what to make of it just yet. I could see gamers using it in Destiny Crucible. What do you guys think? Would you buy the Hipshotdot? Apparently they sell is at Gamestop. COMMUNITY RESPONSES "It's only cheating if you get caught" - the underworld "It's not cheating, just pathetic" - Sean "My friend just used a piece of clear tape and a sharpie to do this" -Kyouko "Line up MLG fanboys" -MstrDstryr "It's just a gimmick to try and sell to people who are dumb." -Palindrome [i]"May the Light be your guide!" • I believe that its extremely pathetic and only noobs who suck at games would desperately buy this.

  • Yeah...I can't aim for crap a lot of the time primarily because I'm new to shooters on consoles so its more learning aim correction, muscle memory training and reaction times. On the one hand, the dot would show me where my sight is pointed...on the other it could hinder me by being a distracting red light in the middle of my screen or potentially blocking what I'm seeking to shoot unless I'm closer. I also don't like the idea of using this as a crutch...I see that as less desirable than just learning to do it the usual way. I can see it now, 'OH NOES GUYZ! I can't play with you cause my red dot died and I need it to play!"

  • There are some things that can be called borderline cheating, I use a scuf controller, it has many hardware miss on it but no rapid fire mods or anything like that. Things like this are just small advantages that really don't make a huge difference in the actual game.

    • Hip firing is mostly random anyways and ADSing already provides you with a reticle. This won't help if the player can't aim to begin with, so I vote "waste of money". The only game I could see this even remotely being helpful in is counter strike where the crosshair can sometimes blend in with the environment no matter what color you make it.

      • This is one of the silliest things I've ever seen, do people actually pay for this? So you put a dot on your TV so you know where the center of your aim is? Ok, cause normally your hip fire reticle only vaguely outlines the center of your aim. I'm sure it actually helps a little bit, but hip fire has preprogrammed inaccuracy to match the inaccuracy of real life hip fire. Only in real life, not only do you not have any reticle at all (unless using a laser) but you're not always looking the same direction as your gun (as is always the case in all games, hip fire, ADS, or zoomed in). Not only is this not cheating in any way, shape or form, but it is simply another gimmick to take people's money away. I'm jealous I didn't think of this first.

I'd rather be judged as I am. If I use this or modded controllers, what have you, and improve my K/D, I will walk away knowing it's fraudulent. Besides on CoD you can get hit markers without even having your sights on your target.

        • It is obviously cheating. There may not be anything that can be done about it, but it is unfair. Take COD's EMP grenade that was an example in the video. It is supposed to take down your enemy's sights, which is a part of its design and advantage. However, this prevents that intended aspect of the game from taking place due to a user's circumventing design. But not only does this provide an unfair advantage, it limits what developers put into the game to try and create variety and balance. Hip firing in some games is meant to be harder, and part of that difficulty sometimes comes from no crosshairs, among other things. Now developers would have to rely on more randomness than they did before. Everyone can buy one, but that doesn't mean it's fair. Everyone could mod their systems, but that's considered cheating and you can get banned. The difference with this is that it can't be detected for and punished.

I don't see painting a red dot on my tv as cheating, using a modded/rapid fire controller is a different story, same goes for a modded console.

          • Its almost cheating i will say lol beause the game cant flashbang that sight away making it unfair for other gamers...but for those who are that determined to keep sights on...to-shay lol

          • If you utilize this product... understand that some game developers drop accuracy for hip shots in general... so the "bullets" will not go where you think they are supposed to go. Not exactly sure for Destiny, as I haven't seen too many sites calculate the hit markers down to an nth like the Battlefield or COD games. The other side of me is wondering why I wasn't able to develop a product like this... I have seen so many people utilize the whole scotch tape and permanent marker set ups this just seemed like the next logical step. I don't really declare this cheating as I believe that most games inherently are designed to negate this product due to run sway and the billion other stats the game processes on the fly. My only concern and saying that this product gains you a slight advantage is with games that limit weapon attachments such as COD.
Truth within.. ...cloak without
• No way surely the hip fire system is programmed with a random room for error. Maybe not for slugs but surely for automatic rifles. I want this as long as it doesn't hurt my tv lol just to see how it plays lol.

          • I doesn't help at all. Crosshairs are the exact same thing except you don't pay money for it and they give you a more accurate depiction of where your bullets are going.

          • For someone just starting out or is really struggling, this could help them a lot and I don't believe it is cheating. For an experienced FPS gamer, yes it would be cheating because it would give them an unfair advantage when they already have the skill on their own.
