Forgive my ignorance, but I just came across this and don't know what to make of it just yet. I could see gamers using it in Destiny Crucible.
What do you guys think? Would you buy the Hipshotdot? Apparently they sell is at Gamestop.

I don't see how its cheating, It's not like its that hard to figure out where to aim anyway. Is it lazy? Yes. Is it cheating? No.
-
It's neither of those options. It's not cheating, but it is just dumb. Tape and sharpies are cheaper and as effective as the LED (depending on the color of the marker). Sure it may take a couple seconds longer to apply the tape than just sticking a suction cup on the screen. Sure the tape also has a limited life span, but you can substitute that with some kind of static cling film. If they want to go out and buy the LED thing, I'm not going to stop them.
-
Honestly this can't cost them more than $4 to make lol.
-
I'm more hardcore than all youz guyz. I play with my tv off. If you have any audio / visual aid at all you are so OP cheating haxxxx. For real though. It's a dot. Who cares if someone uses it?
-
Scrub tools. If you or anyone reading this has ever tried to use, used, or even purchased this scrub contraption......you MIGHT be a cheezballer
-
It looks like a wheelchair for the gaming handicapped. Every hear of a reticle? no? that's weird.
-
Edited by SnarfTheWhaler: 8/9/2014 6:03:24 PMYeah seriously. If you suck so bad that you don't know where your aiming when you hip fire then I FEEL SRY FOR YOU SON! Maybe the uber noobs need a handicap so they don't feel so shitty when the suck ass at gaming lol
-
Whatever makes people happy. The kind of people who will use this are capping their skill potential. If you want to get better then practice is the name of the game, not gimmicks like this.
-
Cheating maybe, exploit of course. Its not how the game was intended to be played. But I guess if you suck you would need all the help you can get. If they ever compete in there local game stop they wouldn't be able to use this expolit so they will only get recognized at there grandmas basement.

Link won't work for me..
-
It's sad what some people would buy.
-
Thanks dude, got one on order now lol...
-
This is just plain stupid. Why would you need to use this?
-
People have been doing this for years with tape and a sharpie
-
I saw that too and laughed at the idiots that use it, it's not that hard to see the middle point on any TV.
-
People below have already said it, but no, it's not cheating. I remember when Gears of War first came out, everyone was putting tape on their tvs to really good effect. It's annoying, but it's not cheap or cheating.
-
Reallllyyyyy *facepalm* ingame you pretty much always have a red dot sight or even iron sights for gods sake, comes in handy when you want to have better accuracy over someone hip firing. plus i dont want to be sticking something on my tv screen :| its $25 for gods sake! if you want to get robbed, send me $15, ill buy a usb cable some resistors, a L.E.D, and a suction cup thing off ebay solder it together and send you it!
-
Edited by BVRPLZR_: 8/9/2014 2:42:18 AMNo. You want to put something that could possibly harm your flat screen? Be my guest. But it's not cheating, people have been using tape and stickers in FPS games for years Edit for PS: it's $30? No thank you lol
-
That's not cheating nor is it cheap or pathetic. If you don't know where to aim? Buy it. If you don't? Your good already.
-
Wow. I cannot believe people are ignorant enough to purchase stuff like this. Beyond just playing the game and learning where to aim without your reticule (which isn't hard) try this instead: Grab printer paper, tear out small circle, moisten back of paper dot, aim, stick to screen at center of reticule. It really is not difficult to use your brain. Beyond not spending 30 dollars, paper won't f' up your TV, you wont waste energy or a USB slot, and you wont have a dumb ass cord hanging from your screen.
-
if you want something in a game that the developer didnt want to put in it, then dont play the game, this is just stupid, even if just use tape and a sharpie, do these people even play for fun or do they do it for bragging rights? To quote an old genius; I don't want to live on this planet anymore
-
People actually buy this garbage? I bet these guys also buy the little analog cozys that "improve" their fps gameplay as well. Gitgud
-
Ok, technically it is cheating using this device. The device is used to give the gamer (no matter how slight) and advantage. That being said I only think it would give anyone a marginal advantage.
-
I used to mark the center of my computer monitor When I used to play COD on PC. Certainly helps not sure I would consider it cheating because you still have to aim. Its just an aid.
-
Edited by Deathray: 8/9/2014 4:25:58 PMWhy would you need to do that. I found no problems in all my time as an fps player of doing hip shots. People that do this just simply cant imagine a normal cross when they look at their cross hairs. Get them in the cross and pull the trigger its not that hard to do. There is no need to put extra crap on your tv or pay for an actual LED dot to put on your tv. Just imagine your cross actually crossing. There is no hipshotdot in real warfare.

I ain't buying, but the noobs who can't even get kills in Crucible can get it... And get rekt
