While I don't think that the Traveler is evil, I personally think the Speaker is. I mean, he's voiced by Bill Nighy. He doesn't have a face. He's pretty much got all the power since he's the only one who can "speak" to the Traveler

16 RepliesMy impression is that its not a matter of good vs evil its a matter of two dynamically opposed philosophies on how best to evolve the state of the universe. The Traveller is only "good" because it morally aligns with our ethics. The Darkness is only "Evil" because it violates our sense of morality. The reverse is true for the Hive. Both Guardians and the Hive are immortal undead servants of their respective philosophies being directed by a will greater than their own. Both sides hold their respective champions in a form of reverence or worship ( difference being the Hive are zealots ). The Hive are assholes but they're not a faceless evil. Oryx wouldn't be after us if he didn't have an emotional attachment to Crota. The Darkblade wouldn't be in a pit if he didn't have the hawts for a girl.

23 RepliesThe traveler didnt BRING the darkness here. Traveler was running from it, we found it in mars, it mived to earth to give us a golden age, darkness came and the traveler was about to run. Rasputin crippled it with midnight exigent making sure it stayed here to help us protect ourselves.

Thank you for this. So many people don't realize that any information in the original story is worthless because the whole damn thing got scraped. I will admit that the Traveler might be evil BUT there is no way to prove that at this point in the game.
