Raid guidelines and best practices for new members

Hey guys and welcome. This thread is for new and existing members that haven't run the King's Fall Raid yet to help you get through it easier the first time. [b]1. Equipment/light level: [/b] Light level 290 is ok, but you'll have a much easier time as you push toward 300. During the raid it is likely you will get gear that will help put you over 300. As far as equipment goes, swords are neat and all, and almost useless in the raid. You'll want a decent sniper rifle (1000 yard stare is a great one to use) and a heavy machine gun. The Bosses' weak points need constant crit damage as much as possible, so rockets aren't the best choice. If you don't have a machinegun, don't worry, it isn't the end of the world, the first boss can drop either of the raid heavy weapons. Please don't show up with a shotgun, it will do you almost no good. [b]2. Roles and following instructions:[/b] Your first time through we'll guide you through each part and what to do, but it is critical that we clearly communicate and everyone plays their part. Even though the Raid gets easier each time we do it, the only thing it takes to ruin it for everyone is one person not doing their job. This is the most wipe-happy raid Bungie has released yet, and the bosses are each a multi-phase endurance match, and wiping means starting the boss encounter from the beginning. Once everyone has gone through the raid a few times and is familiar with it you'll be able to start calling out roles. Just be patient at the beginning, and I promise we'll help you be successful. Please don't say you watched a youtube video and totally know how to do this. There is a big difference between watching someone else do it and actually pulling it off. [b]3. Communication: [/b] This hopefully goes without saying, but make sure you are using your headset and join the chat party for the raid. During the raid, if you are having difficulty, ask for help, we've all had to at one point or another. Be sure to let everyone know if you die during one of the fights, during the hectic insanity that is each boss fight, we might not notice someone down right away. We'll pick you back up as soon as we can. During the raid there are several phases with buffs and debuffs. During these phases we need to be sure to let each other know how much time is left, if the buff has successfully passed to the next player, or if something has gone horribly wrong and the buff disappears. (it happens) Mostly just pay attention and communicate clearly and you'll be fine. [b]4. Have fun: [/b] This should be another unnecessary entry, but seriously, have fun. The raid is difficult the first few times and we're all going to make mistakes. Take a deep breath, don't worry too much, and don't do it again or Boba will skin you alive. (Just kidding, he would never do that) Mostly don't be a dick, and get to know your fellow clan mates. I look forward to stomping the hell out of Oryx with you guys!
